Only because Cliffords need a bit longer to be fitted properly and then you don't get any problem with them. I have always had a Clifford on my car. For 3 years I had one, no problems, and I have had this one for over a year too, nothing has gone wrong with it and no false alarms.
To say they are all rubbish is a bit off, it's all down to fitment.
Seademon - I see you are in Sidcup, my aunt lives in Sidcup. Where is your mate based, or is he mobile?

Forgot to say;
I have had a cobra too, very good alarms. The only thing I didn't like was that it used to go off if a window wasn't closed all the way up, or some air blew through the vents into the cabin, and you have to have those poxy sensors hanging down from the A Pillar.
And the lack of "gadgets"
This was 5 years ago, things may well be different now.

got a cobra with perimeter sensor and running with my standard cat 1 alarm as made by ford lol
no problems here.... just gotta find time to turn down the perimeter sensor as it tweets when it rains heavy lol

Yeah thats him! He has still got it but its off the road at the mo needing a new head gasket & a diff - hes after a Quaife but cant find one ( I dont think hes trying very hard ha ha) so he's stuck driving aroun in his Citroen Berlingo...
