Default GT28RS or GT28R Turbo on a 1.6

Hi there , has anyone run a GT28RS or GT28 succesfully on a 1.6 before, I have a GT28RS sitting on my desk in a 64 A/R but not sure if its too big for my application... the engine in question is 1.6rst fully lightened and balanced with knife edge crank , Performance cams, forged pistons steel rods, aftermarket management , equal lenght turbo manifold etc. the engine itself should be good for upto 8000rpm and should stay together pretty well.

If anybody runs one of these, what sort of HP/Boost may I expect and also any logs of boost vs rpm would be reall helpfull or any other information that I may benefit from.

Many thanks in advance

Thanks for the reply chaps.... has anyone run one on a 1.6 before?

Turbotoaster.. what sort of power were u running to get those sort of times.. that seems pretty rapid..... I think the GT28RS is more suited to a 1.6 and above but I'm sure you know that already.

I'm just surprised not many RS Turbos or alike run this turbo as It seems Ideal (on paper) for the power and engine size.

I do run a GT28 Turbo on my RST. It's a custom spec though.

Incidentally, what cam setup are you running to allow 8k?

Hi Christian , I'm running a custom grind , I'm also using a twin cam 1600 engine with big valves so it should rev to 8000 rpm OK

I know yours is custom , but is it just the GT28 , or the RS model,

Also when does your start to spool up fully
..

thanks

The price most be prohibative or something, because to me it sounds ideal for big bhp laggy little 1.6 RST's

16valves? Sounds awesome, what is it a 1.6 Zetec?
