Default Astra owners... disabling alarm?

my dad's just got him self an astra (dunno what mk, the modern lookin ones, few years old)

anyway the alrm wont stop going off! he has to leave it unlocked to shut it up! if he locks it with the key manually the alarm still activates too.

anyone know how to turn off the alarm completely, or at least how to disable the pasive arming so he can lock it by hand?

ta

Jim

jim heres a thought,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, maybe theres a problem that needs addressing with the car

not sure about the astra but the new fords need the alarm to work as its linked to the ecu

just change the fuse or set the alarm with each door open and see if it sets or not

find the fault rather than "fix " the problem when all you are doing it bypassing it

Apparently they work on Bariometric pressure sensors [my old mans telling me this ]

Try keeping the vents closed, or set to recirculate to stop the pressure changing in the car.

Also buy a new battery, they're actually cheapest [and bosch I think] from Vauxhall

Have been told in the past that the bonnet switch is a favorite for playing up. Try diconnecting it and see if it behaves.

yes, it'll most likely be the battery back-up in the siren, if you disconnect the siren you should be ok but it will need replacing, new siren is about £60 from vauxhall and i think is located near the "A" pillar behind the wing on the astra g - not current shape but last model.

If it's lowered/wide wheels you'll probably have to remove the wheel aswell as the arch liner.
