I used to have the 6 speed 2.0 TDCI Ghia X which had 130bhp and that went like stink....

The ST's have 150 bhp IIRC and a little more torque to boot so i'd imagine that they must go like slippery stink

Eats tyres tho 225/45/R18's all round

Hmmm maybe after a very very very long down hill- Best I have ever managed is an indicated 135 and that was a fooking push.

As the rest Mark - same as my car but regardless of who drives them they eat front tyres, ask Tim.. he'll say the same.

Gotta really push em hard to achieve less than 40mpg average.

The 2.2s are bloooody fantastic cars

We have em a lot at work as rental cars.

6spd, can see an indicated 120 in absolutley no time at all, and can see well over 130 with no real issues.
Dont think ever done 140, but seen over 135 most journeys at night

Properly quick. Waaay faster than youd imagine from a turbo diesel ford!

Not that impressed with the slightly older 2litre 5spd ones tho, not a patch on the 2.2 6speeders

The quick sporty Turbo Diesel Vectra is similar in performance too, and 6spd again.
On M25 one night (from Dartford Tunnel to M40 junction on other side) I never went under an indicated 130 i dont think

Nope down the M55 which is quite a straight bit of motorway!

Be prepared for a lot of engine noise though, its not as quite as the german lumps.

My dad has one as his company car. Goes pretty well and is rattle/squeek free The suspension is nice - Firm, but not overly so (good for long journeys) and the brakes seem dead on. They are also well specced as standard and you can get all the toys in them if you want. Also you get the added bling of 18" diamond cut alloys, which look amazing

Only problem he has had in 30000 miles is a faulty fuel pump (covered under warranty). They are a bit louder at idle than say a BM diesel, but when driving they are pretty quiet.

140 reading on my focus 2.0 tdci 6 speed was 129 on gps that was on the flat but took a while to get up to that speed, woulda gone a touch faster if more road.

well woulda done until it seems fook now.

6th gear still seems too low, all others accept 1st seem too high. I dont like the gear ratios in them. seem to be inbetween them most of the time for sport driving. dunno if they same in mondy?

engines are noisy IMO and they are whank on fuel. everyone raved about the old ford tdci but these new 16v versions seem heavy on juice.

the engines are cool but the brakes i dont find match em very well, mught be just me

we seem to sell lots of brake pads for em when they come in for services too,,,,,, but then ive noticed all fords brakes seem to last a year these days

there are deffo cool cars, the only part i hated was the ashtray when covered at night you can still see the light peeping though the gap

oh and the fucking seat position, either high and have the steering wheel on ya knees or comfortable for ya legs and sit on the floor

i prefer the old shape focus tdci tbh but thats a little small for your army of kids

We had a new ST TDCI at work, and beautiful car. It was brand new sounded quiet and drives well until about 3000 miles the engine sounded like a tractor engine, we took it back in and asked whats wrong with it, they said nothing thats how they sound after run in period

We got a Audi A4 sportline diesel in now and about the same speed and better handling.

But IMO you cant beat a Golf GT TDI 150, now thats a proper diesel engine, quiet even after 13k miles, pulls really hard right up to the 5k rev limit, shame about the interior and the worst handling i have ever driven in a new-ish car
