Default Might be getting a mk2 RS2000 but......

....... how can i tell its defo a 100% genuine RS2000? What tell tale signs are there?

Basically the chap a few units down for me has had one dry stored for over 13 years. It belongs to some bird who has never bothered with it! Its in currently in primer (was going to be resprayed but only reached primer!)! It has all the bits with it in boxes and already has a freshly built 2.1 Pinto and 5 speed box!

Before I part with some money (not a lot saying that!!! ) I wanted to double check if there are any key things to look for. Having a brief look I couldn't see fook all rust!

Any advice would be sound!

Cheers
Chris

Type 49 is name given to the MKI Escort re-enforced motorsport/RS shell

MKII RS shell has a number of "special" features

Inner wings strenghtened with extra top plates and wing rail strengthener

Re-shaped front cross member and slam panel/radiator rail

If its a Custom model then the dash clock pod has a factory "punched" out hole in dash panel

Correctly positioned gearstick hole

Gearbox lowering blocks

Alloy sump

Strengthener plate for the exhaust hanger bracket (remove rear seat to find it)

Rear spring front hangar skid plates

Factory fit rear axle anti tramp bars

Plus of course the obvious RS2000 front wings and nosecone

Twin fuel lines

Just the above are a starter for you

Take a look here as well
