Bernie, can I pick your brains on the MT75 ?

I'm having a go at converting my 2.9 XR4x4 to V8 power and had planned on using a 3.9 Rover V8 which I allready have.
There is a major problem trying to get the front diff to squeeze in because the Rover block extends 1 3/4 inches further below the crank CL than the Ford 2.9 engine. I either have to cut big lumps out of the Rover block and get it welded up to suit (which seems like a bad idea regarding distortion and strength) or go for a 302ci Ford V8 which has heaps of room to fit the diff in as seen in this pic.

The question is if I made the flywheel and adaptor plate to fit the 302 are there any suitable upgrades for the MT75 that would cope with the torque of a 5 litre engine? I assume Cossie gearbox internals are not that much stronger?
A Skyline gearboxed V8 4x4 would me my ultimate but I am too poor to get that involved
thanks for any help

Off the top of my head the internals of the 2.9 are the same as the cosworth MT75 its just the case that different, where as on the 2 litre version the case is the same but the internals ratios are different.
So you would need to uprate just the same as any cosworth would when it increases power and torque ie fixits R&D etc
Hope that makes sense

Makes sense mate
Bernie did mention on another thread that "duty cycle" would grenade a MT 75 with a reasonable size V8 engine, even a weedy 3.5 Rover engine puts out twice the amount of firing strokes than a Cossie engine per rev which in turn leads to more load per tooth on the gearbox if I understand him right
