Been working on a very lucky friend of mines car today (seeing as its bloody xmas eve) changing gearboxs on his rs turbo and we've run into a bit of trouble. We have every bolt off part from one coont which is the hardest to reach (how convinient !) and guess what... the fuckers rounded off !
Now my question to you all is what would you do in this situation ?

Bare in mind we only have one full day to finish it (boxing day)

Is it one of the gearbox to block bolts? Can you not lower the engine/box on the gearbox side to improve access?

 

na its the bolt that goes between the engine and gearbox just behind the turbo. to gain better access i would have to remove the exaust manifold and turbo. i was thinging of getting a drmail and cutting of the head of the bolt because its got a new box going on it anyways

you can buy a kit for removing rounded off bolts. it works in the same way as an easy out. i seen em at my local jackdaw(draper outlet).

try beating it round with a sharp chisel first if you can get access.
