They are about but as said esrlier - you need to know who to ask and where to look. GGR had some new 3dr shells a few years back, long gone now but my mate just bought a brand new Mk4 Escort van shell for his next turbo van.

well i was out of town today, and as i poped into the garage next to a body shop to get a drink i could see a black 3 door on the ramp.

the guy see my saff and came out to talk to me.as he showed me around his 3 door,he started telling me how he had been reshelling it from the old rustie shell.

i asked him where he had picked up this brand new shell and he said it had been in a barn for 11 years and was just lucky to find it. the only problem is as it was new, it had no numbers stamped in the floor!

I paid £1500 with bonnet boot and doors - still in primer (that was in 1998 mind you) I then spent a further £1000 having it seam welded and converted to accept 4x4 running gear then another £2500 on the paintwork and glass.

I did have it up for sale a while back as I was selling off all my new 500 gear but then had a change of heart and will now build it up into a track car with all my spares bits.

If you do a search on the rs owners club there was a guy a few months ago selling a bare in primer shell

good luck

take it to your local Ford main dealer with the correct paper work(log book etc) and they should be able to stamp the floor or tell you which main Ford dealer CAN! no difference from when you ask them new vin tags!

this can be done by any garage but i very much doubt that a ford dealer would be interested in doing it!

N E garage Ford HAVE the right sized stamps and on the Cossie the letters/numbers are raised upwards in the floor so normal stamps aint no good!

yes any garage and i doubt that ford dealers have the ability to stamp vins upwards. .. the purpose of a vin number is to give the shell an identity and if it's been reshelled who gives a toss if it's stamped up or down... unless you were going to deceive someone
