the OE bushes are metal sleeved, they rust making them very hard to get out of the arm itself.

If you knock the rubber part out you can cut the sleeve with a hacksaw, you should be able to close it up and push it out. Becarful not to cut into the trailing arm though.

the best way is with a big hydraulic press, thats what i use now

The proper cosworth trailing arms are a spherical bearing.

The poly ones are just a piece of polyeurethane.

Ford saw fit to spec a proper bearing for the cosworth (poverty sierras just had rubber bushes) - I can't see how replacing them with some poly is going to improve things!

you will be downgrading from a high quailite spherical bearing to a piece of injection moulded poly bush...ask yourself which one you think will keep the arm in the right place

they are a cheap alternative if you cant afford the originals though

Nope. For the reasons above.

If you insist though, find a local engineer with a fucking big press, they don't come out easily (or so I hear - I have the superior part )

ARB bushes are pre-split. Just undo the clamps and take em off.

Or if you've got a 2wd saff that's never had them changed, undo then and let them disintegrate

here is a pic of the spherical bearings with the rubber dust cover removed, a press is by far the easiest way of removing and replacing them them.

Yes poly bushes are great for other bushes, but the spherical bearing fitted as standard to the trailing arms are far superior to poly replacements.
