the OE bushes are metal sleeved, they rust making them very hard to get out of the arm itself.
If you knock the rubber part out you can cut the sleeve with a hacksaw, you should be able to close it up and push it out. Becarful not to cut into the trailing arm though.
the best way is with a big hydraulic press, thats what i use now

The proper cosworth trailing arms are a spherical bearing.
The poly ones are just a piece of polyeurethane.
Ford saw fit to spec a proper bearing for the cosworth (poverty sierras just had rubber bushes) - I can't see how replacing them with some poly is going to improve things!
