Not sure what the problem is, only showing 40lbs of compression on #2 cylinder

It happened whilst i was driving it, so i'm guessing headgasket from what it felt like.

Its an auto, so i was reversing at about 2mph, then popped it into drive, pulled forward about 10 feet with light acceleration, then it jolted lightly as if the engine just let go, and lost a lot of power.

Alright for some eh Anyway, who said i wouldn't be getting pissed AND working on the car

There's me thinking 'hehe, this'll be a walk in the park as its RWD things are easy to get to'

How wrong i was Its an automatic, and the engine loom goes from the front of the engine, to the rear, down the back, up over the gearbox, and then it dissapears?! great fucking design that is aint it. The only thing that will be easy to do is the cambelt.

Have you done a wet and dry compression test.

Well its impossible that its piston damage. So that leaves two other possibilities

#1 Chipped valve
#2 Rings gone (hoping its not this)

As for wet & dry compression test, i dunno what it is? So no.

Just been outside to whip the inlet manifold off, had a peek into the port and the inlet valvesall look fine, but thenagain, its rarely the inlet valves that fail...its the exhaust ones that give up the ghost.

Exhaust manifold tomorrow What fun!

I was right

Was the head gasket

Breach from cylinder 2 to 3. Quite thankful that its that TBH, could have been a lot worse......could have been the rings, or even a breach from oil to water, which would have made a right fucking mess.

Will be sideways again in a week

Yeah, i can sleep well tonight now. i was dreading the worst, could well have been a ring or chipped valve. Either of which i really wasn't prepared to do, especially in this bloody cold.

At least head gasket is straight forward....shame rebuilding the fucking thing won't be

Just to add to this, about the 40lbs of pressure on cylinder #2....if i wasn't such a lazy git, i would haverealised that cylinder #3 would have show exactly the same, therfore indicating a breach. Would have saved me some panicing if i hadn't stopped the compression test at #2
