Default Closed loop YB

After discovering that Stu@MSD is getting 34mpg out of his Saph, I was wandering how much would it cos to convert the YB to closed loop? Is a new ECU required like an SECS or is there a chip that has been written to account for lambda read out?

As Gus says you need eithe a later ECU and the conversion bits, or an aftermarket ECU such as the SECS one you mentioned

Some interesting reading there.. I think that a Saph might make for a nice comfortable daily driver...

How much is it costing to fill the tank on a saph at the moment? My diesel 306 costs Ł50 for a full tank and I get about 470 miles out of it.

mongo, with your dirving you would NOT get decent economy out of a saph, having experienced both i would sat that even on a lap of the ring Stu drives more economically than you do in normal every day life.

if you want a nice daily driver thats "ok" on fuel and nice interior etc and practical whilst still being a bit of fun then buy the other half of that E30

It's true, I do drive like a coont I'd be real good honest Nice and steady on the way to work with some weekend ragging... Who am I trying to kidd.. When I had the Nova I spent over 50% of the time on the wrong side of the road (overtaking)

I just want something quicker and nicer to drive like the BM but not liking the 25mpg we seem to be getting.

I couldn't do that to you, you love the retro cool just as much as I do.. Do you think the E36 Engines will run closed loop?

E36 engiens are all closed loop, but they are quite big heavy cars.

The 34mpg stu gets from his isnt what you would get.

going back to another nova on throttle bodies but running closed loop next time would be a good way to get around quickly without too bad economy, lighter cars are the key to economy when you are changing speed a lot

A quote from my Nurburgring Topic:

This pic shows it was 333miles to the tunnel from Blackpool, and we re-brimmed the tank at the station there which took Ł49.50. A quick calculation shows on Uk Motorways the cossie did the journey at 31mpg. Im sure thats about to plummet downwards....
So i would say in all honesty that 31ish is a better figure, although it has to be said, teh car had 2 occupants and all teh luggage for a week in Germany, as well as some spare parts and oil etc for helping folk out.
