Default Esc Cos over fueling?

Had a misfire problem on boost and was advised by practically everyone it was the spark plugs, so I removed them and they where black, cleaned them with a wire brush, regapped them and put them back in was ok for a day then the misfire returned, I also noticed I was overboosting everying now and then and was advised to try a new map sensor. Took the plugs out again and they where black again.
Last night I put a new set of 071's spark plugs (gapped at 26) and a new three bar map sensor and it was really smooth and misfire totally gone.
But is that just becasue the sparkplugs are new and clean at the moment?
Would the new map sensor affected the fueling?
Worried they will just get black and misfire will return.
I have no idea how cossies work but I was under the impression the ECU controlled the fueling? so would it be a faulty sensor? What can be done to sort this? Or have I sorted it got cossie paranoid. I'm running a stage 1 AB chip
Hope this makes sense

i'd say it was all fixed with the new map sensor, as a leak or borken map sensor would make the car over fuel

sounds like teh same probelm i had the stu diagnosed as a faulty map sensor, really rich at idel and misses dur to exxessive over furlling at teh revs increased yet teh reading from teh mapsensor on teh pectel monitor was as per spec, stu swapped it after we had tried everyting else to no avail, and hey presto, it worked 100% yet the pectel monitor was reading exactly the same value... - strange but true
