Default Do you think....

...if you had a Bugatti Veyron 16.4 could you get it modified?
I mean it's got 4 turbo's, surely a bit of a boost hike is acheivable or do you think the car is tuned to its full potential for road use?
Not just a one off 1200bhp that 'll blow up, but keeping it realistically reliable.
I knoe Ricardo built the rear axel to take upto 10,500nm of torque, so I reckon that bit would survive.

Hell yes .

There is ALWAYS room for improvement on manufacturers turbo engines .

As an asside, these engines make their 1001PS at high altitude, so that in theory you NEVER get less than this figure, and in fact in ideal turbo favouring conditions are supposed to be more like nearly 1100PS anyway .

Course you could. Its 125bhp per litre, no more highly tuned than a 250bhp Cossie.

It seems that the turbos are similar to EscCos and Rover Turbo T25s (identical compressor housings) and they good for about 250 real brake each, so doubt there much leeway in the turbos.

But if we talking swapping turbos and changing intenrals, 2000bhp+ shouldnt be out the question unless the block is really weak.

Its only 250bhp for every 2 litres, thats not even stage 1 cossie levels of tune.

1500bhp would be easy i should think, but the box may not agree!

is it going to happen though? really?

How many did they make?

they also lost a few mill on each one though didnt they? It was an exercise just to prove it COULD be done

cant see any real R&D going on to it tbh

Like 1000 brake isnt enough anyway

Maybe no more, if the turbo is all flowed out it wont be able to hold any more.

And if the turbos are what i think they are, they all out of compressor flow at about 250bhp.

Like said mate, almsot deffo Garrett T25s.

Seen the compressor housing, its the same as small turbo EscCos and Rover Turbo with the dumpvalve built into the compressor housing.

Don't VW do some stupid test with all the engines they develop - three weeks of running it flat out on an engine dyno. Seeing as they own Bugatti surely they would go through the same test - if so then the engine must be capable of lots more power....

the engine is most deffinatley capable of more power

but the box possibly isnt, and also the tires, Buggatti were having problems with the rims roatating on the tires at 1000bhp
