Default head porting on a cosworth

what are the pros and cons on having a head ported out to the max

as i know this is the most restricted part on the yb so would it be okt o have a head full gasflowed and ported to maximum

what are the disadvantages of this as i heard it can be made horrible to drive

i can give my spec if that helps of what the engine is

thanks

it moves the power band up the rev range and at taht power can be made generally slow to drive in most conditons other than motorway and having fun ect

also when its being used then it may just scare you and leave brown stains in them rare seats

time for a leather retrim me thinks

im looking for around 400-450 bhp

but want it reliable

i got a local company that can do some impressive work in porting and gasflowing plus knifeedge cranks etc

at a very resonable price

if people take ferrari and jag race engines to them for work and scoobys aswell im sure a pinto would be fine

just need to know the dos and donts going that much

well moving the power band up is generally what happens tbh, most 500bhp cossies are pointless for the road

true but i will be upgrading at a later date to 8 greens and a bigger turbo and inlet system

but whys its in pieces i was wondering is it worth getting it done but still need it as a daily driver

but i dont know that much about cylinder head work to go into detail to ask them what i want

so no idea how big the ports should be etc

big head ports need big air to fill them or the car will actually be slower and have no torque so feel alot slower

trouble is oyu will find it hard for tuners to give you specs as they develop it etc. I just gave me head and money to Mark and down the road it was all done to what i wanted. DOnt ask me details as i dont know or paticulary care as long as it does the job Just the way i like it

If you don't have the support bracket (from the TB IIRC) then there is a possibility the lugs can snap under vibration ect

the exuast ports are most restrictive part....

you dont want to go to big with the ports on the head as it will slow the flow down.

had a technical disscusion with the guy that did my head yesterday and most of it flew right over my head!

its a complicated bussiness!
