no ford saloons championship for me next year
hi all,
done the ford saloon championship this year, but after selling my ANZ car to a guy in australia,
i bought a 4x4 cossie engined focus last week and was going to use this or a modified version of it for the ford saloons next year,
after being frustated about a deal i was trying to do to buy another race car, and a few other cars not being whot they where advertised as, i bought the focus as a stop gap, and low and behold as soon as i pick it up the deal for the original car is back on,
so now i have bought the car i was after, so i have steve scott doing a few jobs that need doing to the focus then it will be sold on,
this is the main reason i am not doing the ford saloons next year is the car i plan to race next year is a merc!
this car is a merc version of the ford rs500 as in, they made 500 road cars so they could race these cars to this spec,
i still have the two sierra touring cars left and have no plans to let them go, so ford are still in my blood.
but with there value and original conditions ect i can not use them for ful on racing, and they are confined to demo laps and the odd show ect.
so look out for me next year as i plan to race in brit cars long distance racing and possible a few rounds of some of the southern championship where multi makes are welcome.
a couple of pics of the new car
merc 190e evo2 DTM
first outing will be on 29th dec at donnington park for the noicey track day.

cheap as chips mark,
well my chips might cost more then the average ones
and yes rouse old that he won 10 races in brit cars,
very reliable as all rouse races have been long distance ones and you can get 4000 miles on an engine if you are carefull

sierra touring cars are not to bad to run,
but main problem is real cars are worth two much money for me to use,
and designed for slicks which we are not able to use in ford saloons,
the merc is state of the art tecnology
and is much more advanced then the rs500 ever where,
the ford use the same stuff from 87/88 and the merc is a 92 car and has moved on a lot more,
it has a lot less power but is a much faster car round the track, than most cars,
with only 385bhp it will beat most cars with 600 bhp round the black stuff

car only and no spares was 35k
these cars when original are going up in value and the new owner is racing it next year in historics championship
first time australian historics has let the rs500 race there,
so in australia they are now well sort after and a peter jackson sierra recentley sold there for over 60k
whot makes me laugh is when people tell me there rs500 touring car copy is worth loads ect
as with anything only cars with the original shell and history command the big money.

Saw Mr. R running the Mercedes in the night time short endurance event in November 2004 at Brands Hatch.
I think it was called 'Race Into The Night' or something similar.
I went there just to see the Merc, and it was worth the price of admission.
Absolutely awesome sight and sound on the full circuit in the dark with lights blazing, especially tearing along Hawthorn as flat as a strap.
Excellent to see that your taste in cars is as eclectic as it is good Martin, and i'm pleased to hear that you're keeping the two remaining 500s.
Good luck with the car. I hope she is everything you're hoping for, and I very much look forward to seeing her run again.

Ł500,000 plus to build
with Ł2000,000 plus to develop
if i gave you 100,000 pounds today you could not build a car to this spec
thats why if you can allways buy an original race car that someone else has spent all the time and effert to develop into a race winner
some spec
carbon fibre:
front bumper splitter
rear bumper
rear spoiler
bonnet
grill
tailgate
full propshaft
all body kit
mag :
wheels
shocks
hubs
sump
gearbox casing
bell housing
diff casing
titanium:
engine parts
suspension
carbon dash
carbon touring car seat rap round
air jacks
355 ap full race six pots front
300 ap full race four pots rear
centre lock wheels
full data logging
AMG built chassie 42 driven by borg van ohman
raced by zakspeed
a little bit special

Martin I assume the sale price was quid and not $$?
Which state is the new owner in, just so I know if I stand a chance of seeing it in action? PM me if you dont want to post.
Would be fantastic to see one here.

Awesome - is the spares truck now yours too Ive seen these in action in DTM and they were awesome, i assume yours is built to the same regs as DTM?
You mentioned above the Peter Jackson Racing Sierra that was reciently sold - was it the same one as was advertised by a man in Austrailia who had bought it in 1993 and raced it occasionally competitively up until 1996 where it has been in storage until now?
info here:http://www.ibcholdings.com.au/cars/sierra/
Comes with a very impressive spares package too!
