how do you know if a bore is nikasil lined?
ive been offered a secondhand wrc ten stud linered block but the owner is sure its nikasil lined but i want to make sure before i spend £s on it.
and if it is nikasil lined can i use the set of mountune hard rings (meant for nikasil) on the wrc pistons and rebuild without honing the bores as this would remove the lineing am i right? all providing the bores are undamaged of course
any body got any wrc long conrods for sale? ive got the pistons just need the rods
cheers for any advice guys

i have little knowledge on this, but i was under the impression that nikasil liners are fitted to the bore i.e. the cylinder is machined to a certain size and the liner is slid into the bore.
of course i may be talking bollocks

in the motocross engine u nikel seal or sil, watever, the bore instead of using a liner as it doesnt wear but if u gett ne dirt or crap in ur bores it usually scraps out the coating as its only thin! has good heat resistant properties! u just get it replated

You need to speak to this guy - https://passionford.com/forum/profil...rofile&u=12233
He deals in motor bike engine rebuilds
As mentioned Moto X bikes and powerful high revving bike engines use Nicasil coatings

dont think it gets honed or nething, at work we machine bores bigger than size to allow for plating, thats wat happens wen u get ur bores nikel sealed! example 0.05mm of plating and u wanted a 10mm bore so u wld machine it 10.1mm bore as its 0.05 a side of plating confusing?

Nicasil plating is the same whether on a Ford engine, Yamaha Engine or R/C model airplane engine
