Not really anything to it mate, you just whip off the cam cover, take out the cams, remove the lifters with a magnet, and "repacement is reverse of removal"

Obviously you need to time the cams in properly after, is that something you are familiar with doing?

I always use a magent, even on ones i have then put back in again but its an extremly weak one on the end of a pen type thing that i use.

Does a strong magent effect their future operation then?

Valve grinding stick sound a good option though, as obviously that wont effect anything

Its a very small issue indeed, but a valid one....

Magnetising any part of the engine will encourage small metal particles to accumulate on them and obviously a cam lobe then coming crashing down on it at mach 10 will encourage somewhat more wear than is acceptable.

As i said, small point but valid.

Ah fair enough, the magnet i use is so weak it only just picks them up, literally have to try a few times to pull them out with it, so not much chance of magnetising them, but will swap to a grinding stick just in case

Mind you, impacting anything steel/iron can encourage it to become magetised too cant it IIRC from a level physics, in which case to be really fussy you should make sure you lifters never see an impact, like from a cam lobe, lol

Don't forget the valve cover gasket, half moon gaskets, and while your at it, might as well get another timing belt & tensioner.
