S1 havin her nap and want to remove some waxoyl from under the car. It's the black tacky stuff (this is actually waxoyl is'nt it ) ? A couple of small patches are starting to come off (been on since new) and i want to remove the loose and take it back a bit more and then apply new. What's the best way to do this peeps ? Thanx in advance

Use a hot air gun and scraper, that's the way we do it. It's called seam sealer. You should be able to get some from your local body shop.

Waxoyl is like a yellow colour, although to your car somebody may have applied the black underbody sealent made by hammerite, its black wax that never actually completely dries. To remove this stuff i get a bottle of white spirits dip a paint brush in it then rub over the area on the car, then some vigourous rubbing with kitchen roll, ive done this on my 2i till its all been removed.

If you start painting underneath and the paint doesn't take, theres a film of wax still underneath. Good luck matey.

No you mention a hammerite product, I am saying waxoyl (as in the proper stuff) is also available in black... NOT underseal, Waxoyl

Found the original warranty booklet and it was done with "protectol". There is loads of the yellowy stuff visible in places all around the car but the underside is black tacky stuff. So this could or could not be waxoyl then. Either way it looks like it's gonna be a sod to get off !

Will try the various methods guys, thanx. Seems to have done the job for all these years whatever it is. Been round the whole car intimately and not found a speck of the "R" word anywhere It's just starting to peel off in a couple of places but the rest seems fine.
