Default stereo fitting?

Hey, i was just wondering if anyone knew of anywhere in the South East that fitted stereos cheaper than the £40 that halfords charge. I realise most people do it themselves but to be honest i wouldnt know where to start and its probably safer to get someone else to do it but £40 seems alot.

Also I'm looking at getting an Alpine stereo for around £150 but there seems to be a lot of models around that price, does anyone have any particular recommendation?

Thank you!

why dont u try flirting with 1 of the boys in halfords and get them to do it quickly.

it should only be a 5 minute job tbh.

what car is it going in?

it should be a case of taking the old one out, and plugging the new 1 in, either directly or through an adaptor lead.
if u go into halfords and tell them what the car is and what stereo u want they will tell u if its a direct replacement of i u need an adaptor lead

Hi, all I would say is for £150 you ain't going to get much of an Alpine. If that's your budget go for a Kenwood, Pioneer or JVC say. Alot more for your money.

£40 is about the going rate if you go to a shop - ask around, someone you know / someone else knows must be able to do it for you. Takes 10 minutes. as long as they have a simple grasp of electronics (which I don't !!) it isn't difficult. Seen it done many times !!!

hey guys thanks for the advice... and thanks for the offer dave, havent got one yet tho! but i may PM u if its still available? whereabouts ru?

I'm not looking for an amazing stereo, as im not going to put any other sound system stuff in literally just want a cd player etc... and i didnt like the look of the pioneer and kenwood (such a girl i know) but the spec didnt seem that much different?

if i spent £150 on a kenwood, would you be able to tell the difference in sound to a £150 alpine? with no other equipment?

thanks for your help xx

Not too bad then. Seeing as you now don't have to spend money fitting it spend the extra getting a better deck. £50 at this level of stereo provides quite a jump in quality and features

corsa- old shape or new one???

if its a new one, then you'll need another 20 quid for a facia adaptor....

Oh, and if your not too far away, i can fit it for you too! - may be closer than dave or paul!

Corsa's are a piece of piss as I beleive they have ISO connection on the standard radio so it is as simply as remove the standard radio and unplug. Plug new radio in and push home. You will loose the display on the dash though but I wouldn't worry about that.

Katie, just bear in mind that it doesn't matter how good the head unit is, if the speakers are crap it will sound crap.................speakers are everything in a system.

Well it's been 6 years since I did an install on a Corsa so I think I can be forgiven a minor lapse of memory. Anyway, I'm getting old now and the do say the mind is the first thing to... err...

No point getting a top of the range or advanced stereo if the speakers are std. that £130 unit looks a perfect buy. Maybe get a 6 disc changer at a later date for it.

Lots of offers to fit it from people a lot closer to you than I too.. so you should be able to get it and have it fitted by this afternoon!
