Default distributor timing

how do you set up the timing on the distributor of an escort rs turbo, i changed the distributor as the other one got fooked, normally theirs always two marks that line up but this dizzy hasnt got one! im guessing its out because ive noticed a flat spot whilst coming on boost am i right? thanks in advance

get yourself a timing light matey, you can't second guess it. Sounds like yours is out if its got a flat spot...

cheers for that, is it meant to be set at 12 degrees btdc

12 degres btdc at the crank at under 800rpm and the vacuum pipe disconnected.
