Default Will powdercoating last on exhaust manifolds?

Before the engine goes back together, I wondered about powdercoating the manifolds - anyone know if this will stand the heat?

If not, is there any High Temp pait with a gloss finish? So far, I've only seen matt paint and I think I prefer the rust!

I don't understand. The manifold is heavy cast iron or similar - would powdercoating harm it in some way?

i can get it ceremic coated in gloss black if you wish, as you by race teams, and will last easily.

but it aint cheap, far from it.

Powder coating is a simple process, ovens, fridges etc are normaly done this way, the principal is dry application then baked in oven, now it depends on oven temperature and base metal how long it lasts, also the primer used, there are many heat resistant paints available you need to look into that area as well as you can get heat-resistant paints that are air dry ( no need for oven baking ).

I don't want to spend lots if it doesn't make the car faster, but thanks for the offer Ryan.

I'd guess that if powdercoating is used on ovens it should be ok for these manifolds.

powdercoating will not last on a manifodl numptys

manifolds on turbo cars reach 800 degrees +

not even the high temp paints will last on a turbo manifold

normal manifold "maybe"

definately not a turbo manifold

craig, ill second that theres no way that powder coating is going to last on an exh. manifold, the smell of it burning will most probably kill you aswell we tried it on gas fires in the past and it dont last long

just use heat wrap round the turbo/manifold.. dont have to look at it then and it will significantly reduce engine bay temps!

leave the powder coating for the wheels, cam covers, etc....
If it's a N/A manifold then you can get a chrome like coating, on a turbo manifold, you need high heat coatings that usually only come in mat colours because of what it does in nature.

See as almost everyone above, my powder coaters told me it was a waste of time and would just come off.
