I think you're being a little harsh on Rod, as all he was doing was bringing into question the dyno-plot . Okay, he could have done it a bit more diplomatically (like I did ), but not everyone is the same, and Rod "reacted" to it in the "what a load of bullshit" frame, instead of just questioning it's validity. We're all different!

However, I'm not sure if some of you are reacting aggressively to divert attention from the dyno-plot or what, but give Rod his dues - he posts what he thinks when he thinks it (rightly or wrongly) and this can get him into trouble.

Also, like it or not, Rod's car IS currently the fastest Cosworth on the planet (216mph on an 8 mile bowl doesn't cut it for me ), and if / when his speed is eventually beaten, you can bet that that tuner's "cronies" will be harping on about it until the cows come home .

Personally, if it was my car that had achieved what Rod's had, I too would be putting "pretenders to the crown" in their place too, right up until the point that my record was taken away from me . How would you NOT be justifiable proud of such an achievement? I hate the fact that in the UK it is a well known British attribute to diss success . Being the best at something should not IMO be mocked or rediculed. As far as I am concerned, Rod is making the most of his "fifteen minutes" of fame, and when it is beaten, no-one will remember (who the fuck was that Mike Rainbird chap with the 180+mph Sapphire way back when? ). So give credit where credit is due etc. I don't see anyone else willing to PROVE performance times like Rod has?

Dynos (as has been proven on this thread) can be made to lie. However, the black stuff can't lie .

When you and Bruce were attacking top speeds, before Martin came along and obliterated you both , you were very modest about your achievements (which back then were something special). The only one who was acting the fool back then was Car Crusher , as well you remember - whilst it was light hearted banter, it always had a little edge to it, just because of Bruce's then "MAD or nothing attitude".

Anyway, I don't think it's about achievements or knocking someone who succeeds at all - Rod should be justifiably proud of his car/achievements as it is an absolute beast of a car - it's about being gracious with it as well.

There's also a difference between being proud and being arrogant, which since Rod likes to remind everybody that he's old enough to be most of our grandfathers (and may well be! ), he really ought to recognise.

Yes, but there were MANY cars that came along that were "claiming" to be MUCH more powerful, yet couldn't exceed 180mph, which I found hilarious and would publically villify as not having the claimed pwer out-put.

Back then, most of these people weren't altogether in one place to take the piss out of directly, but now with the advent of Pf, there are "lots" of 500+bhp cars and still many of them haven't exceeded 180mph, let alone 190 or even 200mph .

Also, the thing you have to remember with the banter between Bruce and I, is that we had BOTH attempted the top speed thing, so both knew how difficult it was and so there was a degree of total and utter respect for each other's achievements. I certainly would not have taken the banter from someone that hadn't been there, seen it and got the T-shirt .

How could I respect someone dissing me (playfully or otherwise), if they didn't actually literally understand what was involved in such an endeavour (risking life and limb + a Ł10k of engine each time)?

my shed beat other rsts that I KNEW to have 40+ more at the wheels.

That doesn't prove they dont have the power.

I also didnt think Rod had proven a horsepower figure for a very long time. They were based on estimates of added power from Nos.

Until they decide what the playing field is.. be that Brunters or the same rolling road, no one can win or lose. Thus Daz's car, until it goes down brunters has nothing to claim against rods "crown".

I'm surprised that you don't understand why these cars failed . There is no point them making a peak of 40bhp more than yours at 5500rpm, if by 6500 they are making 10bhp less . Where the power is, is just as important as how much the power is for doing top speed runs (unless the car is re-geared accordingly ).

Its not the same shape as a cosworth
But i will give it my all
It aint going to beat rods top speed as my gbox only gives it 190 mph
If it does 190 and has the aerodynamics of a box it shows it has some power but has it less than the claim
I suppose i could say my car is the fasted top speed old car at brunters(32 years old ) with cos engine in
