Tryin to find out how a proper BMW rear spoiler fits on basically, like a series 2 with screw caps or with bolts formed into spoiler and bolted from in boot, any help?

on an e36 saloon m8 they are fixed from underneath, IIRC they are bolted into encapsulated nuts in the spoiler HTH

Neil, I fitted a genuine BMW rear spoiler to my M3 E36, The spoilers have captive nuts x4 in them. With a new spoiler you get a template which has 4 plastic legs on it which locate in the captive nut holes on the spoiler, the underside of the template is sticky so you can line up the spoiler on the lid then pull away leaving the template in place. Drill 4 holes as marked on template through boot lid. Fix with 4 bolts supplied that screw in from inside the boot through into captive threads in spoiler. Fitted mine 3yrs ago & never had any probs.

Cheers simon.

Neil yes it was a genuine BMW spoiler with all fittings, it had been painted but never fitted, only paid £60 for it off a mate . Its the one that says BMW M power in the middle (some have a brake light instead). I'm sure their about £300 normally from a BMW dealer. The fixings do sit close to the edge of lid underneath. My advise is don't buy a copy one, spend the extra and buy a genuine BMW 1 as they fit properly, some of the copies sag in the middle after time.

Why buy a spoiler when you could buy the real thing, my M3 is in the for sale section £6495 Bargain & i'll leave the spoiler on

Cheers simon.

Get the sales plug in! lol

It is true about non gen spoilers sagging though, when i brought my car it had sagged so much the spoiler rested on top of the boot lid, it had started to wear through the paint!!!
