Pectel monitor and L8 ECU
Hello guys,
Recently I got the Pectel monitor. I attached it to L8 ECU, but it did the datastream seems not to be working. I thought the monitor was broken, and called the guy I got it from... He replied that I would have to upgrade my chip to datastream enabled one.
Is this right, or he's just talking bu....it? He advised me to go to this forum and look for the chip.
If he is right, can anybody send me the chip dump of the datastream enabled version for L8 ECU?
Many thanks,
Mike

yes he is correct, you do need a datastream enabled chip, as a normal chip just outputs the slow datastream on the diagnostic pins, suitable for reading by flashing light. pectel datastream is much much faster.
however i think you also need a pectel baby board not just the chip. could be wrong, but i'm pretty sure that you do.
what's inside your ecu. got a pic of the board?
, i have seen some other boards not marked pectel but which work- they are obviously based on the pectel stuff
good pectel monitor topic here https://passionford.com/forum/viewto...er=asc&start=0

Testing the future
he is right that you will need a chip with the datastream enabled, and in a standard L8 chip it is not.
what i am unsure of, is if you can just enable the datastream in the chip to work on the standard L8 baby board, or if you need a pectel baby board for it to work?
my previous chip was a stg 3 chip on L8 running on a pectel compatible baby board with datastream enabled and worked on a pectel monitor. i've just bought another chip (this time a stg 2 chip as i am still using a t3 turbo and the stg 3 chip runs too much fuel and not enough ignition) that has the datastream enabled but runs off the standard baby board. i am hoping that the pectel monitor will work on it, but haven't yet had the chance to check.

Guys, thanks... It is good to know that the money I invested in monitor is not wased.
Now, is anyone willing to share chip with enabled comms with me? I just need the chip to verify the bloody thing is working...
My ECU has standard baby board, not Pectel or any other... All original Weber Marelli stuff...
I have two chips for P8 (stage 0 and stage 2 from Superchips, decoded)- either of those I could trade for this comm enabled L8 one.
All the best,
MikeT

I am pretty sure you need a small mod done to the main board in the ECU as well to run a monitor?
My P8 had to have this done before the monitor worked and I do run a Pectel board.
It was a simple modification.

Connector bad - I'm in trouble again
Guys,
I had a chip update and now monitor does it's thing.
However, in the dark era of original chip, I was suspecting the connections are bad somewhere and I screwed up the connector that attaches to the car diagnostic socket. Now it works only in one position, and looses connection every now and then.
Where can I buy the replacement connector? Which part number, which manufacturer?
Many thanks,
Mike

i have pictures of the diagnostic connector, but don't know where to buy it from new. in the past, when i have made an LED diagnostic tester, i have got the counterpart from the wiring that goes to the electric window motor inside the door of sierra's
