Default Big brake conversions, using spacers? 4x4 cos.

Is this the norm, would i have to use spacers and longer wheel studs, or can i not just get different wheels to accomodate them????

Hi rog I bought bigger brakes for that car before and needed 10mm spacers so opted against it!! you will need different wheels, plus that was a 6 pot caliper and a 343 brake disk from GG!!

This car runs a 7.5 x 18" Kahn RSR so is a bit thinner than will suit most conversions. Go for a set of MO's Rog and a 4 pot brake and if need to get the bells made to suit with a spacer and a spiggot built into the bell!! thats what I have had to do!!

They are 6 pot brembos(i think) with 355mm discs, there on an escort at the moment which uses spacers and longer studs and 18"MO's, apparently there off a rally car? I thought using spacers was a bit of a bogde it kind of idea? two of my wheels are scrap so i may aswell get new ones.

Would it not be best to get the correct wheels in the first place?

Because most of the aftermarket ones are shit (just flat discs), which gives them a bad rep.

If you go for spacers, they absolutely MUST have a locating ring for the wheel as big (deep) as the standard hubs.

get the right wheels rog and you'll be ok. compos are tried and tested but you cant have them because i had the big brakes first and hence first in the queue for the wheels...this ol town aint big enough for 2 sets of compos

then again noone will see yours in the garage

Rog,

I put a six pot AP setup on a M8ts 4x4 saff. he is running 18" FRS alloys and he had to use Harry Halfrauds spacers to get them to fit. Not my first choice but if you have to go with spacers get propper ones

Well unless you're getting the 6-spoke 17s, then they look totally different .
