Default Thieving Scum ! TomTom Warning

Had a great meal for my birthday (40th ) in St Pauls area of Birmingham

Came outside to find my sisters car has been screwed and her TomTom had been stolen

She had removed the main unit and put in her glovebox but her screen mount was still in place

They smashed door glass and took mount and the main unit from the glovebox

Now two things come to mind here

1, even if she had took main unit into restaurant with her they would still have broken in hoping main unit would have been in glovebox !!

2, What if they when they turn on unit and "navigate home" !!

Moral to story is shoot or run over thieving scum bags (and dont stop) at every opportunity

OH and remove both mount and unit from car or hide well from view and clean the circle off your screen !

Birmingham and the surrounding area is shite now, so much crime goes unpunished

can't go or do anything without thinking about being robbed/mugged/ something happening, it's a shame this country is in such a state when you really think about it

Remove all mine from the car when I'm not using it. Force of habit I guess.

heard about this...

will have to sort out some quick release thing if they are going to be doing this

alternatively if you remove the unit - leave your glove box open and empty to show its not there might make them think twice.

the navigate home thing is actually quite a concern!

I'll have to pin code my PDA to stop people accessing the tomtom.

Would not think of taking any of my cars into Brum center
come to think of it would have to be a special reason to go out in town at all

even though they have been caught whats the bet that they`ll get a slap on the wrist & told not to do it again

Seeing as they reacted so quick and travelled 14 mile to get to my sisters house

Methinks the police may have been stalking the area as it could have been suffering a lot of car crime recently

Knew who the scum were but needed evidence

Who knows ?

Smashed n/s/f door glass

Door not opened (no ultra sonics)

Had to lean through car as mount was in middle of dash

I have not seen exactly where in car blood was only know what sister told me

LATEST UPDATE

It now seems that the police are going to look around the area as they think scum may have ditched the Tom Tom Went (oops sorry Go)

Me really do thinks the police had the area under surveillance and the scum did a runner (thats how they got em so quick)

Heard this SOooooooo many times ... I always drop the cradle off the screen... its sad but has to be done ..

Good point on the home business though.. when you think about it you dont actually have to have your home addy on there anyway... I mean you must know how to get home if you are a mile away so just put an addy a mile away in

Be good to get it back though... plod probably need it for evidence, otherwise they will simply get done for criminal damage, etc not theft

This is why i now only use this for navigation:

At least theres no way i will forget to take it out and hide it.. it will be in my pocket.

My mate works in a dealership that sells the Tom Tom's as acesseries, they are now getting asked for as many cradles as there are the units

Most people leave them in there though out of habit still, the one in thier own van got swipped too

I've always done this since having a face-off stereo - it's the first place they will look.

I don't agree sounds like racist cr@p to me to be honest.
very lot of stereo typing and generalisations in there mate

but in a way I suppose you're right... it is to do with the people being in the country that are not supposed to be here.... reintroduce sending our crims to OZ I reckon

most of our scallys are british born and bred - its our systems that are damn right poor and weak IMO.
