Default saph 4x4 problem help me !!!

yeaterday car took ages to start, normally just a couple of seconds and it fires into life,

today it took even longer and even once it started it didnt really want to keep running

now when i hold the revs you can feel the engine juddering i dont know if its missing or not but you can hear the engine popping too

any ideas of whats suddenly changed ???????

didnt think it was going to start this morning it took that long

no just idles normal revs if you just touch the throttle and hold so its revving just a bit higher the engine sounds like its missing to feck

could it maybe be plugs or anything ? dont understand tho what could suddenly of happened etc

cheers gareth had a look around the engine theres nothing obvious wrong with it ie no hoses off etc

whip the plugs out and clean them - thats a good start.

fuel pump sound okay ?

am letting car cool right down as its just drove back from litherland

will clean plugs and i think fuel pump sounds good ie no funny noises

anyone else ???????? stu ????????????

can see a trip to blackpool coming on here time crisis 3

doesnt that affect the idle tho alvyn ?

i know the one youre on about cos i smacked it when changing all the samcos over so maybe it could be that one

had new phase sensor, plugs and ford motorspost blue leads last year so surely they should still be good ?

As you have done the plugs leads then check your electrical connectors to the injectors and any off the wires running off them if they run into the push/clip together black connectors ford use (I can't remember proper term for them) then they can cause problems.

Over the years the pins can corrode and you get poor electrical contact so they start arcing inside making it worse. Everything can seem fine but it only takes you knock them while your doing another job and if the connection is only just making contact then you can make it worse.

I good idea is when the engine is running, is to go around and give all the electical connectors a good tug and a twist if you've got a lose one it should be pretty obvious .

As others have said it could be done to a millions things but with cars this age it is normally down to elctrical connectors / wiring. Old wiring is bad enough old ford wiring even worse .

cheers guys will have a good root around tommorow the only thing that i know isnt quite right is that coolant temp sensor because i had "issues" with it last year so thats the first port of call !

I'm with you on that Alvyn.

EXACT same symptoms as on mine - coolant temp reading -40c on the old SECS monitor.

Changed the sensor - job done.
