Right.......
I know most clubs are now open till stupid O'Clock......Rock on!
But the news doesn't feature about supermarkets!
So if i was to whirl into ASDA/Tesco's/Morrisons/Safeway
at 4am, would they be able to sell me booze? Yes or no?

yeah, only if they have applied for a license and got it tho! its not jus"its 24 hrs now so everyone can stay open!" you have to apply for 24 hrs license and be granted it to sell 24 hrs, most have gone to supermarkets

wonder why the press never highlighted that point when they was slaging off the pubs for having a 24hour licence that will cause liver problems
surly anyone with a drink issue would be getting it from a supermarket with there discounted prices rather than drinking in a bar

plus, they could buy it in bulk up until 11pm before now anyway, not a problem, doesnt mean they can buy anymore, just at different times!
i think that people need to learn what "binge drinking" actually means! its not drinking every night till early hours getting pissed, that would be alcoholism,to binge on something is when you DONT do it very often, then when you do,you do it heavily! so god knows how you would stop someone doing that! i think its called most of us not drinking in the week when we are working then using our bloody own god given freedom (as supplied by many men far better than tony blair in ww1 and 2) to decide that we wish to let our hair down on a weekend!

you wont stop binge drinking unless you make it against the law to drink, but then ive been taking charlie shince i was 16 so thats never helped either
maybe we need less rules and moe time workign woth people to see what can be done about it rather than the "no, you cant and if you do im gonna make you poor" attitude that there is
hell were famous for our drinking, just cause the people in the states dont understand our drinking culture dont mean we should stop it

Basically mate, about 1000 establishments in the Uk have a 24hr licence, I think 750 are supermarkets etc, 250 odd are Bars/Pubs/Clubs, 75 of which are in Bournemouth!
I for one can't fookin wait!

was winding my merry way round ASDA last night for nearly 2 hours
and when i got to the check out @ 11.30pm, all my alcholic beverages were confiscated
ASDA havn't got thier licence thru Aslong as the supermarket has got the appropriate licence, then yeeees they can serve
Asda will have a licence, its just that they are now being dealt with through your local council, rather than the magistrates. And as per usual they havent got a fooking clue. They are so far behind its untrue.
We had a neighbour get a petition up against our application and when we went to court our barrister had to tell the council panel the order of procedings
I think the press have just jumped on the bandwagon, and as mentioned earlier the public seem to think that your local village pub is going to be 24hours
you apply for what you want, we went for 10am 12pm everyday. I very much doubt that we will use them ours everyday. Also everyone gets an extra hour ontop of that for 27 days a year, stuff like saints days etc.
