Have been to Power several times recently , great service , reasonably priced and seem genuinely keen to help with any problems.

seen a lot of people recommend NMS , i was under the understanding that karl does not want any more rs turbos to work on??[dont blame him ]

IMO there are not enough good tuners that want to work on these cars any more mainly due to 99% being dogs and the owners being skint all the time!!

BTW wouldnt take mine to anyone but karl as he quite close

People that I have used and would use:
Gadget off of here. He is a star and that goes without even going into it.

MotorSport Developments. Never dealt with them but the wealth of knowledge that is shared on here plus the reputation they have is outstanding

NMS. Cars speak for themselves
JamSport.
ST.Albans Car Clinic. Have done some amazing work on my car. Customer service is second to none.

Field Motorsport. Well lets just say that my engine is there being built and mapped at the moment

APT. Christian and Tony's cars say it all really

Probably a few more but can't remember them at the mo.

personally customer service and long term custom relations are DEFFO what i go with

the one out of the lot i would PERSONALLY choose is jano oddkidd as even thouygh hes got a funny surname he seems to look into things and also i have NEVER heard a bad word saod about his actual work and all ive heard is how he goes out of his way to help people, MOST of them are not even the big spending customers, hes just a genuine guy who gets alot of shite on here so he dont get involved anymore

in a nut shell hes a car freek and still loves to take time and mix in the scene as well as help people out without profit on his mind

BUT also ive noticed that jamsport seem to have some good results with the MFI cvh engine cars so for a set up ect maybe they might also be a choice too

APT

does christian know he was the second choice

the way i look at it is the same way as people recomend aftermarket ECU's , go with a tuner who has full knowlege of whats there working on ect

jano prefers cossie management system, christian prefers Omex and it seems that jamie seems to do well andunderstand the MFI system

oh and talking about 5th injectors, they recomended that for jims XR4X4 TT when they set it up, aswell as removing all his gaffer tape on his engine bay as it was a "bodged mess" and then RETAPED THE LOT BACK UP WITH INSULATION TAPE

turned out that there was a broken wire on the injector plug that stopped the car for firing the extra injectors , 500 quid plus labour for a job that JIM HIMSELF fixed at the sea front with a soldering iron that plugs in a fag lighter socket

so makes me laugh at the 5th injector sales pitch, its abit like when jano was fixing all the erst problems with just a cossie managment swop

but atleast jano has progressed and learn new ideas and tried different ways

So APT did themselves

I always took the S2 to PE and it always (without exception) felt sharper and punchier than before.

What I liked about them was that they developed alot of their own tuning parts for it. SX428 cam, Zorst etc. Clearly they knew what they were doing and knew which parts worked well together rather than just being an agent for a performance outlet and screwing on a few parts and hoping they worked well together.

It was always a laugh with Steve and Merv down there - can't comment on Chris really as he only did my car once. I will say that they didnt seem to spend as long setting each car up after Dave left to run the Poly business over the road. They had some new policy to work to a set time to carry out each piece of work such as brake swap 30mins etc. And after this things were a bit different. Chris was very complimentry but I wasnt invited along on the road test like I used to be with Merv and Steve.

I drove one of Harvey's S2's that had his full on 240bhp conversion. Tons of torque low down as it used the std cam however my S2 was rated at 224bhp on PE's rollers and it out pulled Harveys motor from 20-100 in a side by side test. That PE rocked!

that to me shows customer service

just wondering do APT treat all there customers the same way or was it a rates for mates type thing

not ment as a sly dig at a company but tbh id like to find a company that if seen you ion a club or a pub are polite and ask how things are ect and not just reply and think of you as a customer

think the personal touch is whats lacking in most tuning games these days and why people like karl norris and jano are soo well respected rather than just mod there cars to be the best and if they do a customers to the same spec drastically ripp them off on costs and fake sales pitches

again that wasnt a dig at APT interested in the aftersales approach from the company and as i know what gary IS like ive used this company to ask it

think you're wrong there. he might have high profile cars going there but he tuned my mates S2 a while back and my fez turbo which i never thought he would! also a few other S2's off here are harvey customers. business is business - doubt he'll turn cars away if they arent escos'!

dont know why he didnt want to build you an engine tony bit strange but i dont know him well enough to know the reasons behind that.

yeh they were the tits tbh. im only talking recently that they have changed things to get themselves back on track to bring the "powers" name back to one of the best tuners etc as they used to be. the best person to speak to is Matt he'll explain all

wow there has been quite a response.. i think im more then likely takin my car to jamsport for engine mangement. as they reckon it can run realisticly 250bhp and more torque on 15psi.. they seem quite helpfull and i havent seen anyone with a bad word about them. and it seems like the gotech system is good value for money. im based in the heathrow area, but either way ill either take the car to jamsport or have it taken on a transporter.

I am more of a friend to Gary and Christian than I am a customer, well.... I hope so anyway. But that doesn't mean I get things for free, I still have to pay my way. I guess you could say that some of things I do get are just one of the perks of having a couple of your best mates as your tuner. Like a room at the APT hotel and days out with them etc.

Is that what you were getting at?

tony i never ment anything about the price ect as thats not what i ment

i ment the aftersales and the welcome feeling you instantly get when you see them for the first time

i always thught you met gary adn christian as a customer ar first anyway

you know what i mean though, my chinese is a cool place to go to, i walk past and they give sweets to my little girl, they always know what im about to order and they always stop and chat to me in the street and talk about things ect and if i have tonwait why there busy they will tell me to go home and she brings it over to me

my local pizza place ( real italian pizza, not that pizza hut shit, sorry nige ) when i FIRST went in the door to order a pizza they owner there was having a joke with his customers and he gave me a glass of wine JUST FOR WALKING THROUGH THE DOOR, i was soo impressed that now have to decied if its a pizza night or a chinese night

or like oranocos customer service off rob, he took him to the brunters thrash and steve visits there when hes about and pops in to say "hi" as hes feels welcome there

ive found that alot of new customers are ignored at times untill they are proven to be big cash customers then they are just sucked up to to blee them dry

can anyone go to christian and get the same engine built as you got for reasonable rate or is it classed as a prestige engine spec and as soo its top secret and the only details they give are you credit card numbers

You will always find people that have had good experiences and bad experiences with all tuners, it is purely down to who you are comfortable with,

There are a few that i have NEVER heard a bad word said about and a few that i have heard bad words said about...... but read above again

Mike

Oh i had mine @ PTS would not return

I think you get x amount of info from ANY tuner free and then you have to show that you are geniune (normally finacially) before you get any more,

I visited Christian and Gary the day after i got my 8 and they were took the time to explain alot of things to me and talk over things, but alot of it depends on the attitude you go in there with but that goes for most things in life does it not

cheers mike

i always thught you met Gary adn christian as a customer ar first anyway

No, I'm not that lucky. I swear they have scouts on the A47 looking for me, because everytime I turn up, they are shut
