Anyone wondering what its like to go?
For me personally it was one of the highlights of 2005. It is by far the most enjoyable event ive ever been to, and the socialising aspect was nothing short of incredible. Whole evenings just whittled away eating, drinking and having great fun with some of the most fantastic and pleasant people i have ever met. I cant wait to get back there. If your interested, here is my own story from September this year: Click Me:

Issues to consider:
Book the time off work NOW.
Don’t forget to book a hotel.
Don’t forget to book a crossing and a return.
Don’t forget your passport and insurance details.
Don’t forget to get EU cover on your car insurance.
Don’t forget to arrange some EU breakdown cover.
You MUST get an E1-11 form from post office to cover you medically.
Don’t forget that tyres and brakes will take a hammering, best to set off with new ones fitted IMO.
You can NOT afford to crash at teh Burburgring. It is Notoriously expensive.

The most common question i have seen asked so far is "What does it cost?" So, i kept a track of costs on my first trip this year and here they are, hopefully, a few items on there will jog some memorys of expenses you may have overlooked.

My own personal Costings for Nicole and I:
    Total: £1170

    Additional expenses:

Total Outlay for us both to drive the ring: £1485.00

In reality, the fuel for my own cossie, including 21 laps of the ring was only £350, so you can knock the last £140 off if your confident your car will be as good or better than my own and you wont buy souveniers or go karting etc.

Ok folks, i hope the above 4 posts pretty much sum up all you need to know. If your definately going, let me know and i will add your name to the top post. Same goes for if youve found a decent hotel and booked, let me know and we can add that info too, try and get us all staying in groups so no one feels alone.

Any info you think worthy of note, lets get it included and make this the template topic for every trip

E1-11 is no longer valid. you need a new European Health Insurance Card - www.ehic.org.uk

You can NOT afford to crash at the Nurburgring. It is Notoriously expensive.
I know from experience - I've been involved in 2 crashes so far - I can afford another, but would rather not have to.

By the way, an alternative ferry is Norfolk Line Dover - Dunkerque http://travel.norfolkline.com/

      £44 for Friday 14th to Monday 17th. or £48 Thursday 17th to Tuesday 18th

Personally, I've booked tunnel for Friday to Monday at £128 as I prefer the speed and convenience over a ferry.

      Last tip...
      1) ALL who are driving and need a stopover at Folkestone, remember to book a hotel

      2) ALL check your rooms are booked in Germany. It would be GRIM to get there and discover a problem had left you with nowhere to live for a week..!!

If anyone has any suggestions or a space is available would be so grateful not even sure what to do about the room as Andy has all the paperwork for the room i have paid towards

be a real shame if you cannot go at the last minute.

pretty sure you could squeeze in someones car near the tunnel or something.

hope it's not anything serious Andy.
