Default fully rosejointed suspension on a road car - lifespan ?

what sort of lifespan will rosejointed suspension have on a well maintained but hard driven (my caged, stripped out, zetec turbo rs16i basically) summer road and occasional track car? will it also be too harsh with the lumps and bumps we have in our roads?

or is this sort of suspension best left to track cars with the smooth tarmac surfaces ?

talking about adjustable front tca's, and also rear suspension like the following pics which are from MEF Motorsport

I have a very very similar setup on my S2 and personaly dont find it too harsh on the road, like you say keeping it well maintained is the key.

Worth putting dust covers on too.

Its perfectly reasonable to use on a road car, just check them reguarly for play.

Front end is 1600i with antirollbar removed with adjustable bottom arms. Only this pic which isnt to clear.

Rear is MEF setup using solid nylon bushes rather than rose joints.

dont bother with dust covers on rose joints all they do is hold the water/salt in the joint and they rot twice as fast as you cant clean them or dry them

Im with Mark on that one - but it really depends on the spec of the R/J used. Stainless ones will not rust and if they are self lubricating then even better - so no covers needed.

As for life and harshness/feel, just come and book a test drive mate

I have the MEF set up on my car. I noticed a small increase in tyre/road noise but that was the only down side.

A closer pic of what B8 has (but from when they were new), made them from 8 brand new Subaru rear arms and then made some solid nylon bushes in 2 halves and sleeved those with metal inserts. Simple (but expensive) to do that way, and works a treat

DazC if road noise is the only downside i come across i will be a happy man

NUTS RuS thanks again, it does look simple to do that way, but i think i'll stick to rosejointed ends. which set up is best, the modified subaru arms or the usual rosejointed ends?

Which is better.... Neither is better or worse, both do the same job. (r/j and solid bush)
