interesting thread i never knew of the 4x4 s2 as such..... but this year i also found out a mk3 rs1600i 4x4 was made and a fella was selling it cheap enough as needed putting back together, but as no one knew much bout such a car i think my mate who was offered it was apprehensive...... then fate has it i bought a wheel local to me off ebay, went round there and it was the former keeper of the car, he ended up selling it so expect that to turn up at sum point in the futere........ full steel bottom end turbo running gear 4x4 rs1600i!

Wow, 1st time i've ever seen this, my RWD Cossie S2 project has standard flared arches so look a bit like these but with standard kit
Anyone know if this bumper is avalible anywhere, looks a bit like the rattle snake kit front bumper and kit looks simular to the Gennini arches

I owned ford escort XR3i proto types 4x4 tecnik. gearbox , rear axle , gearsiht system , kardan . etc . this car is 3/ 1986 red XR this car worked in germany cassis test.
this car runing about 600km. car is crushed and technik come on in finland about 20 years go. i owned about 10 years.

I have in my possesion a advert dated 1991 for a escort 4x4 prototype done 1200 miles needing reshelling by a firm called alto automotive.they were based in Rochford essex and were heavily involved selling rs 500 rs200 and cosworth parts. You find someone who worked @ Alto in 91 and your mystery is solved.. Oh and John wheeler isn't exactly hard to find either..

I can remember G343 FRE, the story as I remember was the transmission parts turned up in a scrapyard. The car was then built by collins performance using a brand new shell and registered locally. It changed hands and was owned by Mark Tweed of GT motorsport in Stoke. It was still 4x4 at that point, however the tune of the engine meant the transmission wasnt up to it and it was converted back to standard S2 gearbox. The car looked like any other S2 turbo, only difference over standard were the revolution RFX wheels in white. It was sold on when Mark bought his black 3 door. No idea what happened to it then. I did have quite a few photos of it but can only find one at the moment, and its hiding behind my old sapphire!
