Should the RS owners club become.......
.....the RS & ST Owners club?
Been ages since I posted a topic remotely connected to Ford so thought I'd better
Was just looking at the new Focus ST in EVO and it seem that Ford are pushing forward with the ST brand whilst the RS is only going to be brought out now and again, if at all.
The Fiesta ST, Focus ST and Mondeo ST220 are fine performance cars, far far superior to the mk5 RS2000 for example.
Back in the 80-90's you could buy a Escort/Fiesta RS Turbo or a Sierra/Escort Cosworth.
Both mainsteam models, large production scales etc.
It seems ST has replaced the RS in that respect so should RSOC membership be opened up to ST models?
The Peugeot GTi owners club moved with the times to become the Peugeot Sport owners club, should the RSOC consider something similar?

the only RS' worth having since the mk3 escort are turbo'd ones! dont see why the RSOC should include the ST models. surely they have their own club sorted out by now?
que attacks from RS1800/2000 owners!

It just seems the RSOC will need to change to survive long term, unless Ford decide to make RS models as mainstream cars again.
As said, the 'current' RS cars are ageing rapidly.
Membership to the RSOC must be affected as a result, or if not yet, it will be.
Biggest car club owners club in Europe wasn't it? Is that still the case?

The Focus ST is supposed to be awsome.
5 cylinder turbo should make it pretty tuneable as well.
Quicker round the ring than the Focus RS isn't it?
What about the mk5/6 RS2000? Do you think they should be asked to leave the RSOC
All the ST models are better than that RS imo

The ST170 is a lot closer to it's competition, and the new Focus ST is a genuine shot at the Impreza WRX/EVO VIII MR260 imo.
I didn't mean this as a ST v RS post, all I'm saying is that the ST brand seems to be Fords choice for the Future and if the RSOC doesn't incorporate them I don't see a long term future for the club.

prehaps u should ask the STOC?
www.stownersclub.com
i'm sure they'll have something to say about being absorbed into the RSOC!
if u want to join a multi-band OC why not join Ford Sport?
the RSOC will get smaller, so what? the cars will get rarer, more cherished and increase in value, win win i say!
and i can't believe people are bashing mk5/6 RS2000's! like there RS turbos rule all

No i dont think they should!!
The older the RS's get the more special they become!!! and make people more proud to own one!! IMO!!
i just dont see how the RSOC could become the RS and ST OC...... its just not right! they are a totally different group of cars!!!

some people on here are sooooo blinkered its unbelivable
the mk4 erst was a shite rally car, so was the S1
explain why there soo much better as a RS badge to a 5 cylinder turbo engine ????
as for being a totally different group
there just cars at the end of the day
the rs owners club will die in the end when the younger generation look at scoobys/evos as cheep affordable cars and see the cosworth in the same light as we see the triumph dolmite, just a older looking car and who cars whats under the bonnet
ST is the future, stamp your feet and should out loud but the RS aint no more, its changed its name just like what happens in time
the future is bright, the future is orange ST's

Shouldn't someone be asking the ST and XR Owners clubs if they want to be taken over by the Mighty RSOC, or is it just taken for granted that they should just lay down before the all powerful RSOC?

I posted this purely from an RSOC point of view, concerned only with their survival.
Add to the the fact I can see RS owners trading up to cars like the new Focus ST I think if Ford keeps pitching ST models at the same level, they sit quite nicely with RS models.
All these new clubs are ok but the RSOC has the heritage, like the Pug GTi owners club, I just think it needs to adapt and accept ST models to survive
