Testing the future
Paul Ripley i don't know what the mod is exactly, but presume that you do now that you have the diagram. i could just see that there is some soldering and a link on your circuit board that are, how shall we put this politely? not factory quality
as said, the datastream from L8 and P8 is the same usually. is it just a case that the monitor is not getting power? you have 2 connectors - 1 for the datastream, and one for power.
what exactly does not work about it?

My monitor only comes to life after immobilser is de-armed. P8 software AND ECU board need a mod for it to work on a P8.
A tuner wouldn't usually mod the P8 ECU unless specifically asked, although most software will be set to datastream so the tuner can diagnose faults in the future (assuming they have a Pectel monitor).
Can't remember the location on the ECU for the mod, but mine looked nothing like a 'blob of solder', and was done properly and carefully.

just had another look and the stuff to the left of the 14pin chip doesn't look so good. not necessary to touch that area for pectel mod, although i know EA sometimes do something in that area but don't know why/what...

Update on my Monitor!
The ECU comms mod was fine, the monitor was fine but the ECU had blown the chip that controls the Comms, WI and Purge cannister.
ECU was repaired by Pectel via Harvey and works fine now
Also I spoke to Dennis Osbourne (as per my start up message) yesterday and he said he used 10 bar VDO sensors, so I'll get one and try the Oil pressure first.
Hope to get a K-type thermocouple probe/sensor sorted aswell for the exhaust temp
My displays:-
Position 1 The map sensor wasn't connected hense the 3.21 b
Position 2 The Volt light on the front lights when it drops below 11.5v not sure the when the Temp light will show
Position 3
Position 4
Position 5 VDO Sensors not connected
Position 6a VDO sensor no connected
Position 6b VDO sensor no connected
Position 7 The button on the side was indeed to start the monitor datalogging and is shown by the green light on the front next to no.7
Position 8
Oh and It was wired for both T6 and P8/L8

but aren't you tempted to just undo the 4 screws and have a look inside (just for piece of mind purposes, or perhaps you're the inquisitive sort) and it'd just so happen that you could perhaps make a note of the switch positions at the same time......pretty please with knobs on ?

someone on another thread wanted to know how to add the warning lamp to the monitor
it's wired across pin 2 (+12V in)
and pin 9 (lamp out)
on the 9 pin plug
although my monitor has it done internally rather than on the dash.

are you sure that it´s also for 6.52 as in your manual there is only a 9 pin connector my monitor has 12 output´s, btw it´s your old monitor
and for what is the warning light you´ve show above?

Off-topic but: Can someone post the P8 Mod diagram? It's hard to see what track needs severing/modding by the previously posted pic.
Cheers.
Cheers.

apart from I do know that 2,3 and 5 are the same as the 9-pin version
but pin 12 on the 16 way goes to ecu pin 11 whereas on the 9 way it's pin 1
but I have no idea which pin on the 16-way does the same as pin 9 on the 9-way
hope that makes sense

Ok, so far i know:
pin2 - +12v IN
pin3 - TXT 1
pin5 - RXT 1
pin8,9,10 is used for RS232 and 6 way connector on board (pin3,5,8,9,10)
pin6,7 oil,fuel press.
Can someone find out where the warning light´s for temp and voltage can be added

anybody know of 1 of these for sale as ive been looking for ages with no joy
was offered a top version with fuel & ign trimmings for 1k but a bit more than i wanted to spend?
looked at the collins monitors but they are massive and dont have data logging, and are not a straight plug in to my pectel loom monitor plug

Wow just red the whole 7 pages, and all I got is a headache now.
More seriously, sounds like hasard to come over a proper working unit, but still as Marc I want one for the same reasons he explained about the Collins one.
Thank you "the original" for the details.
