My Escos was put back to it's original plate after having a private reg on it, previous owner just asked, so you may get lucky, I heard a long time ago that this car and the first press cars were hand built at a cost of £250,000 each ,dont know if this is true, John Taylor will most probably know

it's really cool, I spent thursday with him at the test track, It's wierd sat in a portacabin supping tea with Jeremy stood next to ya! Nice enough guy, seamed pretty much the same as you see him on telly. I was a bit starstruck so I didn't say much.

Once your car is first registered with a plate, it always keeps it, so no matter how many times you change it and put different private reg's on, it;l always get its original plate back. the plate only returns to the DVLA once the vehicle is scrapped.

I've spoken to our VRO about this before.

In 99% of cases that quite true, but if the plate is no longer available (i.e. it's something tasty thats been earmarked for sale) then you won't get it back.

Your entitlement to the plate ceases the second it is transferred off the vehicle.

when i sold mine a couple of yrs back,i couldnt get the orig plate back as it had been used on someone elses,once the dvla get them back they can issue them to anyone,they will however try to use the orig no if they still have it
