Because i wanted to see how good the casting was around the bore in terms of wether or not the bores were located exactly centrally within the bore walls, as potentially it may have been the case that they were thinner on one side or on in particular place.

Also i wanted to know the thickness of the bore wall before it broke through.

Standard bore wall thickness (except between cylinders) is 5mm, and they are extremely well aligned

I had a couple of other reasons for what im doing as well, but im not going to go into those just yet

I've not really been bothered by it. But to save porous heads, go with a coscast

They have a better casting, and are hand finished.

If i didn't need my coscast head, it would be straight on Ebay for those muppets to buy it, thinking its some special cosworth tuning goody
