just wonderded, how many people on here with series 2's no longer have the sound deadening on their bonnet. will it make the car run slightly cooler without it? or could removing it cause paintwork damage due to the temperature these engines get to so easily and quickly. wondered if i needed it or not thats all

I haven't got one any more but I've had 6 RST's and at least 2 of them didn't have the sound deadening/heat insulation on the underside of the bonnet. Never caused me any problems and made the dump valve sound louder! Take it off I say!

cheers for the replies. think i mite take mine off then. its lookin a bit grubby and i would rarther have a nice polished up underside to my bonnet than greasy black carpet. it has a kinda foil heat shielding on it aswell in one little area. could this maybe been there since new? i'll maybe get another one of these and put it on the bonnet underside

Dont have any sound proofing under the bonet either, and no heat protection, paint is fine, have no problem with discoloration on the bonnet.Regards Micky
