Default FRST - initial setting up.

Can anyone advise...initial setting up on FRST.

car was running 1.8ZVH on a t3 with unknown fuel pump - 195 superchip and beige injectors.
car now has 1.6 cvh still on t3 and an escort cos fuel pump to go in. still with same management.

I need to get the car driveable prior to having a proper set up and check by a pro

what do I have to do? and equipment is required?

If the head and cam is standard it will run as it is now but dont exceed 5psi boost or it will lean off.

im quite surprised at that!

I thought it would of been rich if anything? (did you read it right?)

was 1800 - now gone back to 1600.... it ran 9ish before and smelt very rich of fuel and in the oil

cam is a piper t2 - but that again is same as before.

I can't trailer the car around the country - would really need to drive it somewhere to get set up.

Sorry, read that as meaning you no longer had 701s.
Just take em out and put std ones back in with no chip. Sorted

i'm still not overly clear!

will be changing the pump to the cossie one (have suspicions over the one that is in as its not very reliable and cuts out)

have had the fuel pressure regulator off the rail - and also the anti tamper cap is removed so asume that the pressure has been adjusted to suit whatever was in before. not sure what other settings there are?!

I just thought id be able to get it together - set it up at idle etc maybe fuel pressure and CO meter for base settings and for it to be 70% accurate - whether it had the chip and injectors in or whether it was standard injs?

what happens on the DIY chips that people(inc MSD I think) supply? Do they just plug them in and go with no adjustments required to pressure etc.

Fuel Pressure should NEVER be adjusted for OTS software IMO. In fact, I rarely advocate the use of higher pressure as it strains more things than it fixes, even down to alternators and relays. If you want more fuel, put bigger fuel injectors in it. Simple.

I dont see any reason for you to be unable to set fuel pressure to standard and just run her as a totally std 1.6i FRST Melvin.

might explain some of the problems i've had then if its been fiddled with!

standard apart from t3, cam, intercooler, filter and exhaust, so thats probably worth sorting the fuel pressure to standard.

oh and what chances do I have of seeing over geniune 200bhp and at what boost on OFAC - std head and bottom end - cam, 2.5" straight through, cosworth 4x4 cooler escos pump and 701s.

Have you got any sales due soon stu? I think a proper chip is required! lol
