Why would anyone bother with a Zetec turbo lump?
[ ignorance ] Just wondering what's the point? Is it better than a Cossie lump? If so what are we doing using Cossie lumps? Is a Cossie lump better? If so why not use a Cossie lump instead?
Just wondering.

If I had the dollar id be using the New Alloy Duratec rather than a Zetec, they are supposed to be mad N/A and is it Minster? have em to 400bhp blown already without hardly any internal mods??

Cossie is better IMHO mainly for the reason its got so much development behind it and because the standard parts are so good.
When you get to the stage that people like Sunny and MADrod are at etc though, it really doesnt make much difference which negine you start with as you only end up with the block and a very modified version of the head anyway, pretty much everything else is all custom bits anyway.

The coolest thing about a 3 door, is that it's cossie powered - take that away, and you're not left with much

I agree in normal circumstances though, YB would be first choice for a 3door everytime, well that or a v8!

c*nts, i just spent ages writing a reply and got invalid session
ok, i chose a ZT over YB cos:
my 3dr is a 1.6gl, so no point putting a cossie lump in just cos..
how many sierras you lot seen with a zetec in? or a zetec turbo??
0 - exactly
YB is like Ł1200 for a complete engine, that will most likely need a rebuild so will be about 3k in total
my 2.0l zetec cost me Ł100 and another Ł600 for rods and pistons
im using 3dr running gear and T5, no the T5 wont directly fit the zetec but a batch of flywheels to be used with the zetec and T5 are currently in production for RWD zetec applications and ive got my name on 1 of em
T34 turbo with .63 housing will be good enough for 350bhp upto 400 ish as thats the limit of the crank
so it should be a little beastie when done

You should have used a calibra turbo engine, nice and tractable, bellhousing already available, and fairly cheaply available.
280bhp easily, and that would have gone down great at fast ford magazine
"Powered by vauxhall" sticker in the back window

turboing a Zetec is the only way of getting decent power out of them anyways..
well, that said, think 250 N/A is just about do able if you wanna spend huge bucks
and rev the shit out of them

why follow the norm... its expected to have a YB in it...
so what if i want something different (and cheaper ) in there...
it will be same power as a stage 3 cossie, if not a little more
as i said, how many 3drs/saphs etc you seen with a ZT in it?
and how many you seen with a YB? about 20 million...
i was gonna put the smily that does a big yawn but i cant find it....
