piece of piss to keep mate..quite a tough fish really...everybody usually gets captive bred red bellies but they are very timid..i went for some wild caught red bellies as they are much more lively ...i can pm you best places to get some from and what types to go for..depends how much u got to spend and space in tank is a important consideration

Yep please, just looking to get an idea of price, and what tank size would be needed etc, then it would be a matter of convincing the missus they wouldn't eat the cat!

Put them in the bathtub, take a bath, let them much on your schlong, send the videotape to dirty sanchez and get rich but schlongless.
PS Had the red belly myself for a couple of years, boring fish to keep as they eat all your other good looking, nice behaving fish.

I've got some
They certainly grow fast
What I found quite amusing is the way I put 10 tetra's in their new tank (to cycle it before I put the piranhas in) and when I put the piranhas in they ate 7 of them in one night and they've just left 3 of them alive for over a week
I started off with them ages ago not knowing about keeping them and went out and bought 3 and put them in a 2ft tank! needless to say they didn't all last long
They need lots of space, the guy in the pet shop should have told me really but I found out the hard way. One got eaten fairly quick and 2 grew very fast, then one day one was in half in the morning. I found a piranha forum and saw they need a lot of space etc.
I now have 2 in a 4ft 216 litre tank and it seems ok, anymore fish and it'd need to be a bigger tank IMO
I found out they can live with Plecos so I got one to keep the tank clean, they lived with it for ages, then one day mr Pleco had no head

He flipped over and revealed his belly. Well, actually it was what was left of his belly as they had eaten him all out.
The bastards.

I had 3 red bellies for about 4 years..
paid Ł50 for the baby fish, tank and all the stuff
really hardy fish, you can't really go wrong.
you dont HAVE to feed them live food, (your local pet shops get pissed off supplying goldfish every week and then clock what your doing and refuse to sell them you!!) they also like frozen fish.
they are MESSY fookers ,, rip thier food to bits and you are left with tiny bits of fish that just settle on the bottom of the tank and rot very quickly and it really smells
AMAZING to watch......... they work out what they are going to do between themselves,, 2 go either side of the prey and 1 rushes and nibbles the preys fins, then its goodbye head time ... lol
the speed is amazing
really clever fish, easy to keep and loads of fun
just remember that feeding them live bait is illegal so you have to find an understanding pet shop
or have a seperate tank with breeding fish for food , guppies are good because they breed like anything
