Default Engine mount question???

How can you test to see if a engine mount has gone?

I keep getting a clunking noise coming from the right hand side, ive changed all the tca's with new ones, new bushes, new steering arms etc & the clunk is still there. The only thing i aint checked yet is the Koni & the top mount.

The clunk only happens when reversing on left lock or when you brakes hard, and sometime gives a slight clunk when going over a bump.

Any help would be appricated as i m running out of places to look now

Cheers

matt - his car is 2wd not 4wd.

stickypoohs - the engine mounts on your car are fluid filled, they leak when they split, but that doesnt mean to say a nackered mount is garanteed to leak as they can be bolloxed and not leak.

also is your exhaust catching the bell housing on the gearbox.

Pads shifting in the caliper

Trolley jack under the sump is the easiest test m8

Jack the engine up slowly and see if the mounts come apart

I know its a big prob on the 4x4 cosworths, mine looked ok on my 4x4 looking down at them as soon as I jacked it up a bit they came apart totally

might be different on the 2wd cossie, but all the 2wd sierra mounts i've seen are like a liquid rubber inside a rubber case
