side exit exhaust
#2
I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
was looking into this for my track car (also a S1). I'm put off about the noise limits at most tracks now so have opted for a custom exhaust with swappable boxes etc.

Main reason for a side exit is less weight, cheaper, and potentially less restriction for the bore size due to shorter length.
As well as it looking the bollocks, of course
Depending on the track, a side exit can HELP you get past noise limits as the exhaust may well be facing the opposite side to the micraphone that picks up drive-by noise limits
Get a custom 3in side exit made with two silencers, should pass noise regs anywhere and no restriction on a RST

In my honest opinion, don't bother. Most people charge you MORE for a side exit even though it's less fucking pipe............
PLus, it's bloody annoying as you can hear perfectly well out of one ear, but not the other............ Get a regular one out the back of the car, least that way you'll be evenly deaf

Fitted one on mine for a very brief moment, it was waaaay to loud and was certainly not a performance upgrade, had zero back pressure which isn't good. If you get one, make sure it's thought out
