Wouldnt touch with a barge pole, they cause soooo many problems with hardened spots on the disc surface and have done for years

Having said that i have them on my RST at them moment , only because i destroyed the mintex 1144's on track and i had the greens in the shed. They will be changed for mintex once the car is ready to turn a wheel again

Only a slight improvement in braking, but your wheels stay cleaner longer!

Looking nice is a matter of opinion!

Greenstuff shouldn't be used on track

This material is designed to be used in fast road applications.

If you are using ANY car on track, you will need Redstuff as a minimum. Ideally, you should be using Yellowstuff. EBC also recommend for any high performance or tuned car (Cossie / EVO / Scooby) Redstuff should be used as a minimum on the road.

Check what materials you are using (states on box label and pad backing plate). The latest materials are much improved:-

If using Greenstuff, check it is "AF44/78" material
If using Redstuff, check it is "E388" material
If using Yellowstuff, check it is "DM1793" material.

Any track use at all, personally I would run the latest "DM1793" Yellowstuff material. This has real bite from cold and doesn't fade and
EBC are now recommending the new Yellowstuff on road for many applications

I honestly can't think of a single competition vehicle that is using red, green or yellow pads on a regular basis.

The only vehicle I would ever use them on is a Bin Wagon, and they would be fitted to the inside.

Mattie - do you work for EBC?

By all means Tiff, go ahead and waste your money, I did. Then call EBC and see how far you get with their tech support guy - he told me my rubber brake hoses warped my discs!!!

Tiff, fit some REAL pads - try Ferodo DS2500's

I don't mind cheap rubbish, but expensive rubbish I can't stand!!!

had them on my focus with brembo discs and after 12 months of general use, and no track days the discs had surface cracking, were warped, discoloured and the pads were falling apart.

They werent much better than standard either

Ferodo DS2500's now and I'm lovin them

dont touch ebc at all mate

greenstuff all round and discs all round 4wd lasted 2 lenghts of hams hall

then red stuff all round 4 lenghts of hams hall but front calipers and discs caught fire

all this under warranty they then gave me yellow when i went to fit the them the discs and calipers got that hot it welded my slider on the caliper to the carrier

so new calipers and yellows are wank aswell lol, car stopped but pads and discs lasted a month

black diamond all way now

Not for track days there not

I have destroyed 2 sets of 1144's now on track days so really only 1155's for track and 1144 for road only.

Im considering Ferodo ds2500's as my next set of pads as been hearing that they could be better then the 1144's

I was assuming Fast Road anyway as I guessed Tiff wouldn't be stupid enough to use GreenStuff on track seing as they are a fast road pad anyway

They are std compound yes, which u really should try and stick to on a road car thats used a lot, as they dont give any problems. I've not got them on mine, but have driven a quick s2 with them and 280mm discs on; done a 130 mph emergency stop (behind Stickys car on the hard shoulder) and they have been great. Ive also driven another S2 with std compound but 280 mm discs on track, and there was no problem

If it's a track car then u may as well put something hard on, as it won't cover many miles.

DS2500's are the way forward IMO.

I've had 2 years of 'fast road' (approx 15K miles) and 2 track days out of one set and they've been superb

They work fine from cold right up to red fookin hot

GreenStuff on the other hand? I fitted brand new discs and greenstuff pads to the cossie. I am METICULOUS with preparation work - I even knocked the studs out of the hubs to get in and clean the hub flanges up properly. Bedding in was done in accordance with EBC's instructions.

The fronts lasted about 50 miles before the discs were scrap (hard spots), the rears separated from the backing plates within 1000 miles (could have been well nasty this! ). EBC didn't want to know and told me that it was the rubber flexi hoses that were on my car at the time that caused the problems!

I am by no means a maniac behind the wheel, and there were no faults with the car at all (i.e. sticking caliper etc)

They're total shit IMO. Avoid!

Neil.

FPMSL

What do people think about EBC's discs though?

People that have used 2500's - how do u find them comapred to say std Ferodo compound? There must be a difference in pedal bite when cold? What about squeak?

I've never used std Ferodo's, but the 2500's work fine cold They're a bit noisy for sure, but not as bad as my old Performance Friction carbonmetallics...

I use Redstuff in my Fiesta and have found them to be absolutly spot on with no fade or anything .... 1 set lasted 3 track days but I am very heavy on the brakes leaving it until the last nano second to stop/slow down....lol.
Discs are hardly touched at all as well and no sign of warping.....

Best bit at Ł28 for a set I ain't complaining on price either
