LOT less ex gas thru the zorst, so less backpressure and potentially more power.
And its stupidly loud at full boost.
Wastegates can be bought from all over the place, and even some shonky fookers like powerflow could make u a screamer pipe if your provide em with the flanges (which you shouldve bought with the wastegate).
For a suitable manifold (ie one with the outlet for the wastegate) well thats a different story

Purely from less ex gas going thru the exhaust.
In an ideal world there will be ZERO backpressure after the turbo, thats hard without a mega bore exhaust that almost nobodys got, but having all the ex gasses the wastegate diverts away from the turbo exit from a seperate pipe rather than the exhust, helps.
Like cossie exhausts, 3" bore on most 500+bhp cars, but they restrictive at that power, as Stu/Sean proved that time when mapping Seans car with a 3" and a 4" system on it.
BUT if it had a 3" AND a screamer pipe it wouldnt be as restrictive as all the wastegate gasses (which is a lot, unless you running mega boost and/or a huge exhaust housing) have their own pipe.
Illegal only cause of the noise at full boost if u running a pipe straight to atmo with no silencer, not illegal in general.
Ferrari F40s have one as standard.
Many coaches, lorries, etc also have seperate exhausts for the wastegate(s), tho they silenced.

Those Screamer pipes are proper loud and yes very illegal! Have heard one and they are mental!
As Steve mentioned it's to do with the exhaust back pressure being less as you are allowing alot of red hot gas out an alternative route that would otherwise have gone thru the main exhaust system, restricting the escape of main engine gasses thus allowing the engine to "exhaust" better ergo more performance!!
