Default S2 ECU question

Why did they use different combinations like hearts and diamonds etc, what were the different combinations? and what were the differences with the different combinations?

The difference is slightly revised ignition timing and knock detection threshhold.

the hearts n diamoinds ecu had knock sensor detection on it as rick said, this retards the timming if it pick up anything unusual, great in theory but as the cvh is a bit of a rattler they seem to rtard the timing when there nothing wrong, thus reducing power,
best idea to do is find a s1 ecu

You can use the series 1 maps and transpose them into a series 2 knock sensor ecu this is not an issue. The issue is the det sensor stratergies. This however does not affect all series 2 knock sensor ecu's just alot of them.
The ecu can for no apparent reason activate the det sensor stratergy retarding the ignition heavily and the car goes flat as a kippers dick.
We suspect this is RF interference and therefore cannot be cured. It seems car related not ecu related so if your car does it and your mates doesn't, so you decide to swap s2 ecu's his will probably still be fine and yours won't .The cheap and easy cure is to use a non knocksensor ecu.
S2 knock sensor ecu's are like women moody and tempromental.
