What is REALLY serious is that the car has been self built, self mapped and obviously self driven (just a friendly pish take, so jumping on the band wagon, as I know Rod has done this in his car ). I don't know anyone that doesn't run a tuning company that can make the same claim .

Mike are you sure its a DIY build?
That doesnt seem right, after all he has just got on and done it.
surely if it was a real (clueless) self build there should be topics all over scoobynet saying:
"what turbo for 200mph?"
and talking about the fact his external wastegate would flip the car on its roof etc?

Very well done, that really is mental, it's supercar speeds, no two ways about it

Andy is a tuner, runs his own business and maps cars for a living!
Regardless of what he does..... this is one hell of an achievement.

Fagin,
I was under the impression that he has only recently turned his hobby into a business and that he is completely self taught through his experimentations on his own car? His results have then meant that he got plagued with requests to do other people's cars and thus the hobby turned into a business?

Tony,
The point I was making is that the transition was only recent, so to build a 200mph car is such a short time is amazing. None of the long established Scooby "tuners" have been able to do the same . I was just giving credt where credit was due, I do apologise .

Sorry, I realise that I really should join the long established English method of dissing achievement, but I thought I would give as much credit to this achievement as possible. In future, I'll just mention all the other car's that beat the afoementioned time and point out that anyone who can bolt on a K&N and exhaust could do just the same thing .

good recovery mike it does however appear to be the trend 200 mph nobody was interested in the 80's but recently big money seems to be being spent to achieve this.I believe kevin intends to build a space frame cosworth weighing 720 kilos based around his current engine and transmission and intends to paint it tarton lol

Generally the modifield turbo car scene has gone super super competitive since 2000/1.
I think back then Martin had the top Cossie at 11 second something quarter and 188mph top end and the top RST was something like 150mph and a quarter of mid 13 seconds. Now ever other marque have surpassed these by an absolute mile, even within the Ford scene, these have been bettered by a mile! shocking really!

Mike,
I totally agree with you in what has actually been acheived in such a small space of time..... but that has inherinetly been down to the totally backward thinking of us Brits generally regarding the tuning of the Scoobs..... since the USA have been sold the Impreza the tuning scene across this side of the water has escalated and gone ballistic, because of the parts and development that has been done over there.
This by no means is meant to take anything away from Andy or anyone else..... it's just that Scooby tuning has now reached maturity..... which Andy has helped to highlight!
For approximately Ł10k spent on my Spec C from factory spec, I have been informed I would be gauranteed of a 10 second car (1/4mile car)........ Ł1k a second aint bad. Now thats worth thinking about!
I feel like getting a hard on knowing my standard gearbox and diffs will cope with 500+bhp without any modifications.

Good question..... I dont know. There are only a small number of Spec C's in the country and I dont know of one that has ran at Santa Pod yet. I would imagine the mid to high 12's in standard form..... but I dont really know (so it maybe less).
The other advantage is that for that cost it would be approx. 520-550bhp spec, with the only thing required for more BHP being a different spec turbo as the engine would be spec'ed beyond that initial power level.
Also if you put it that way.... it dont sound so good... SO DONT!!!
