Default Bluefin or Unichip?

Hi Guys,

I just wanted to know which one was better? As I understand the Bluefin is a standard map whereas the Unichip is far more advanced and you can see better gains and better driveability on this?

My mate wanted to know what the best way to go would be (chipwise) for his Focus RS!

He is planning to do a lot of Engine Work so I don't think Bluefin would give the best gains so any experts please feel free to set me straight!

I currently have a Bluefin on my Focus RS, and its great.

But I'd rather the Unichip, although more expensive you can programme everything onto it. If running Nitrous for example, it allows u to run both at the same time...

I also run Nitrous on my RS, so its a pain in the aRSe to take the chip off and have it reprogrammed

So the Unichip does let you map more for bigger power if you wish to do extensive mods and the Bluefin is better for the smaller mods like exhaust and filter?

Unichip is only as good as the person mapping it IMO

unichip isnt really a "chip" as such, its a secondary ECU that sends fake signals everywhere to trick the car into doing what it wants it to do.

i cant comment on which is better/worse,but as rob has mentioned, the unichip needsto be mapped, and most of these unichip dealers i wouldnt let map a lawnmower let alone a turbocharged focus!

Bluefin all the way.

Have driven a few Focus RSs both before and after, and you'll be amazed.

Plus Bluefin has a diagnostic function - nice piece of kit.

Why would you go aftermarket ECU on a Focus RS for god's sake.

The standard ECU is a very clever piece of kit. Also, the PE Focus is not a Focus RS now is it?
