I think this has turned from a discussion to a something quite different. Basically there is one guy, who hasnt worded a for sale ad very well, and whether there are reasons for this or not, as far as anyone here is concerned at the moment it is a wrongly/badly worded ad untill proven otherwise.
Then there are a load of guys, who are, in the case of a couple of post, being quite offensive without knowing the full facts. If you have a genuine interest in the conditon/legality of this shell, why not pm abdr500, why slate him and accuse him of trying to rip people off, its inocent untill proven guilty remember. I doubt those that were quick to dispute/argue and be offensive will be so quick to appolagise.
Give the guy a chance, motorsport shells were availible with sunroofs, history is questionable but that doesnt mean its a ringer, or stolen.

Why has there not been a chassis number on the shell when he clearly states that it has been on the road before with an id...surely that is a ringer then.
it has been used on false/different id,to me thats a ringer.
Wether its a legit shell or not its not right to just put an id onto a shell and drive around claiming that the car in question is what is on the log book.
Also, if he bought the car knowing that it did have another id on it and it was not the right one for it and then he was going to re-id it himself, then surely that is wrong to do.

Possibly, do we know that a shell bought from ford is stamped 100% or is that done in the process of registration, which shell may have missed if it wasnt registered and destined for track use only?
If it has been used on the road with a id, but not stamped, whos to say the original owner didnt stamp it for whatever reason and when sold on the id and shell were split?
If you bought a bare shell, unregistered, but had been used but not stamped, whether on road(legal?) or on track, then bought ŁŁŁs worth of new bits and built the car from the ground up, could you not buy a id and register the car? is that so wrong?
Obviously this is all baring in mind that it is not stolen, which no one knows so lets not jump to conclusions.

At the end of the day, cossies get nicked, reshelled, rallied(jeez, try and find me a wrc car with a proper id!) and all stuff, this seams fairly reliable, just re id it on a normal shell, wack an engine in and enjoy it, cheap cossie motoring!
Then again, the price Marias' (God she's a fox!) went for you might aswell buy a whole Escos!

Chunk incase you never read the owners description on ebay here it is .
escort cosworth up for swap for a 3 door cosworth .iam listing this not for sale but to swap it with a nice clean strate 3 door cossy only because .first thing this car has no engine rad intercooler and boost pipes.and no ID.i bought this car a few years ago to put on the road asa mint strate un smashed escort cossy i spent ŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁ because i wasnt planing on selling the car ever so i didnt realy car how much money i chucked at it any way its imperial blue and is fitted with almost new azev .round head light conversion and a MINT set of leather interior and a big cliford alarm fitted full closure and engine start.a turbo timer is all so fitted and a tracker . i started converting this car in to rear wheel drive rather than the 4x4 as i dont like the problem and expens of a 4x4 so i have converted it to rear wheel drive its got complete back end off a 2wd cossy fitted with brand new polly bush every thing every bush at the back end even the beam mounts are polly .also i have fitted this with brand new avo coilovers adjustables allround front is finished its got 2wd cossy rack arms and all the other bits that make it 2wd and ever thing is polly bushed to gearbox is included but is not fitted prop will need shortening front and back brakes are needed.this car needs finishing off put a engine in it and off you go its a cheap way to get into a escort cosworth its not like its got lots left to go as some on ebay need to much work . this is what is needed to finish the car of is ID as it was built from a new motorsport escort cosworth shell . Spadge, I do know Abid yes, as he is reletively local and we have interchanged parts and he does work on a few of my mates cars, but my point is valid whether I know him or whether its about someone who lives the other side of the country.
I have been on this board for a few years, not posted much as I havnt felt the need to do so unless I have a question that needs a answer from a expert, or in cases like this where imo its unfair treatment.
If you have any problems with the fact that im posting my opinion, that I think someone is getting it a bit heavy from people who dont really have a place to do so, about something something that no ones knows the full facts, and say, ''ohhhh you live in the same city, must just be sticking up for him'', sorry mate, doesnt seem right from someone such as yourself who is a well repected person who has a passion for the truth.

mate if you put 10k into a car would you like the option of going to the dvla to get a inspection an finiding out the cars not actually the car it claims, as a result they not only take the rights of the plate off ya but they ALSO crush the car
hope ya can finially see where this is getting at
car id's are not like wheels, ya cant swop em about with ya mates for a few weeks
the car has 1 ID, same as you have 1 birth certificate,if ya had more than one then ya would be deported like all the other imagrants
but fair play for defending someone ya know
shame it still makes it a ringer no matter how ya like to sugar coat it
hope ya can finially see where this is getting at

I'm not gonna say too much, but I can't understand why anyone hasn't come out and said point blank that this car is stolen or that it's a ringer if that's what they think it is?
