Dan - The price of the HDD is dear, I plan to only use that as the main drive and have my other 2 for storage.
I see that GeIL RAM on there, was tempted.......

i really dont know what all the fuss is about with 10k rpm drives... it really dont make all that much fookin difference, the real xfer rates for the drives mean that it makes feck all difference for continuous data transfer, and the seek times are only a TINY ammount up on a normal bog std cheap one (ie unnoticeable on all but intense server based applications requiring a hell of a lot of seeking)
Also for people that dont realise, SATA isnt actually any fookin faster than its predecessor (in real terms) just because the BUS speed is 150mb/sec doesnt mean the drive can get data down it that fast... hell even ATA100 is more than sufficient! you do reap benefits with raid 0 tho (providing its a decent hardware controller)
just for anyone that is doubting me about the SATA thing... in comparison you can get about 80-90mb/sec from a proper Ultra3 SCSI 10krpm server badboy... so not even the best SATA hdds on the market are making full use of the bus.

there was a test ages ago on another site comparing the raptors on raid to the atlas scsi drives
they worked out about the same for times and were quite a bit faster than ata 133/100

Just got to find a credit card with enough space left on it lol
What you think Dan? Hopefully I should get the money back on the CPU, eventually

They used to be well shit on returns but now as long as you follow the returns procedure on the website returning stuff back to them is no problem at all

ebuyer are shite for returns, no problems with scan.co.uk. If I was going to build a pc for games at a budget of £500 I would go for:
MSI K8N SLi Platinum mobo £86
Amd 64 bit 3500 £140
2 x 512mb corsair value ram £80
250Gb sata 2 Western Digital WD2500KS Caviar SE16 (7200rpm,16Mb) £85
2 x 128MB XFX GEFORCE 6600 PCI-E extreme gaming edition £150
The total cost is £541. I dont think a gamer has any interest in the raptor drives as at 36 & 74gb they wont hold many games. Take half life 2, doom 3, gta san andreas and battlefield 2. They take almost 20gb away in full installs on the hard drive!
