URGENT HELP NEEDED re-DVLA PLATE TRANSFER#UPDATE#
Just before i sold my 3DR i applied to the DVLA to put my plate C20 WTH on retention. I have never had a problem doing this before so thought it would be straightforward.
Today i recieved this letter and it says the following
"I am writing with regard to your application to retain the above registration Number. Unfortunatly there was a marker on the record and we require the vihicle to be inpected before considering your application"
WTF is all that about
The car is now in Belfast with its new owner!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone had this before???

No way!
I was gonna try and get my private plate off one of our cars, but the vehicle has a fooked engine, so will never run again.
Does that mean there's a good chance they will want to see the car if I try to transfer it with a dodgy MOT?

Im sure it is actually against the regulations to sell a car and take the plate off afterwards if your keepnig it, so i wouldnt tell them its been sold....
Sods law though, they want to inspect it but like has been said the inspect every 1 in 10 just routine

Mark, if you sell the car with the plate on it then you will lose the plate IF it gets put in his name.......
but when you sold the car it is the law that you have to fill in the new keepers details and you have to send them off...that is law too.
So you are fooked both ways.
Dave.

So if the plate now is owned by the person who own's the Car could he not sell it back to Tiff for £1 or something along them lines, if he is a decent bloke?

Ok then, how does this stand
At the moment the logg book ect is still in my name as we said i would sort the plate out before we filled the logg book in so this should help.
I could go this route
My Uncle In Belfast is looking after the car for me over the winter, while it is there i wish to remove the numberplate.
Dave, The guy who bought the car is a sound bloke and i am sure he will be ok to sort something out with

You will have to get on the phone with them tomorrow Mark and see if they can sort the inspection from over there.

tiff this is the FACTS, your 3 door prob has had a period of time with no excise licence on it during its last 5 years, due to that they request to see the car, NOW as the car is still owned by you that aint gonna be a problem, when i LOANED my car to jim HE transfered it in his name and i wasnt able to transfer it over due to it being in his name so its then classed as his plate ( even though the plate was purchased seperatly to the car and they got my details anyway,,,, just a cunt i supose)
due to it being in ireland im sure dvla have a local office there,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, if not they ya fucked as they wont travel
they dont give a shitnthe circumstances for anything, if the car has no engine they will no longer transfer the plate as they want a actual car to transfer a plate, you then actually LOOSE the plate ( well the rights to it the bastards )
so check to see if dvla have a office there, if they do then they WILL send someone to inspect the car if you car take it to them
richpon: if the car has had no tax then you will be part of the "random" cars to be inspected as thats what they work the random thing out with , what ya need to do is get the moody MOT and tax it then get it back to a NON running car but needs to have a engine/box and axles, then ya will get it transfered as all ya gotta say is the car it not worth repairing,,,,,,,,,,,, thats the only reason why i have to rebuild the orion that lennie stripped, cause they wont transfer a car thats classed as scrap
ps details of the place for the mot would be nice

Reads like you have either got a trip on a ferry coming up, or a rather large expenses bill to pay.
Should have done it way before any deal was done.
Pon if the car has not been taxed within the previous 6 months of date of transfer then the odds switch from 1 in 10, to 1 in 1

i would double check this, but the bloke who told me has loads of plates,he even gets them of proper piles of shit ,using this method,no wonder the laws have recently changed.my brother picked up a proper rotten heap on his truck for one of his mates,he said he will tax it and wait, then off with the very valuable plate. i recently got my rs2 logbook through,i lost the chassis plate, bought the car with no logbook,so £19 later and no chassis no. just reg number, got it back after about 4 weeks,so they are not to strict on some things then i found the chassis plate after
